Never stayed at an all-inclusive before but this certainly sets the benchmark. Agree with hudsongal that the shower set up is not perfect, but the big jetted tub makes up for that. Bed was very comfy and the room was big. The beach is great, the food is good - modest if you are a foody. The staff are emblematic of Jamaica - warm, friendly, cheerful and helpful. We’ve just returned from our 4th trip to Montego Bay. We stayed at Secrets Wild Orchid Preferred Club on this trip although we don’t always opt of the Preferred Club. We met Isabel Rueda , the new PC rooms manager. She is such a wonderful person who will do everything possible to make your stay a great one. I am always amazed at the way Secrets keeps getting better and better. Check in with Sharol went very smooth. We were supposed to have a third floor facing the piano bar but asked to be moved to face the Gazebo. They were able to move us but the new room was not ready yet so off to lunch we went. We found the jerk chicken cart along the walkway; the jerk chicken is the best! When we went back our room was ready, looked out over the pool/gazebo side. I never tire of that view. Jeffery brought our bags up and serenaded us with a song “one love, one heart, let’s get together and feel alright “ . Our room was perfect, all through the week we came back to towel art and flowers or goodies. We went to relax in the lounge where Jheneall did an awesome job of keeping everything stocked and getting our drinks. If you’re at the pool bar by SSJ, ask Alvin for one of his famous Chipmunk drinks. Andre was at the piano bar, playing and singing along with everyone while Keansha delivers your drink with a smile. The drink service on the beach is great; Chavena and Kadene make sure you’re never without a drink on the PC beach. While Michael, Darron and Sheldon see to your safety at the PC pool and beach, Leonard (we called him “Leo”) kept the drinks coming. It seemed like our drinks never emptied! Staci Ann and Carol make the best omelet, starting your day with a smile. It was great to see Damian, Stewart, Romaine and Sonia at the World Café. You have to try the “special” coffee made by O’Niel. Romantic dinner is definitely a must do. We were taken out onto the breaker barrier so we were set apart from the world. Dohanna was our server, she was very friendly and her timing was great. The meal was prepared to perfection. It was such a beautiful night, the waves gently breaking against the barrier with the moon glistening on the water. The hotel offered a tour called the Kingston tour: It included a night off site in Kingston. We were a little leery as the cost was $0, all inclusive. It started at 9:30am on Friday. Twenty-three of us boarded the bus and headed out on an adventure. The first stop was at Columbus point (I did not realize the Columbus discovered Jamaica too). Then off to Dunn’s River Falls. It was so beautiful. We stopped at a John Crow’s Tavern in Ocho Rios for lunch. There was a man playing the steel drums so wonderful. We stopped along the side of the road for butter pineapple, jackfruit and mangos. After driving through Fern Gully, we headed into Kingston. We stopped at Devon House for ice cream. Dinner was at Usain Bolt’s restaurant “Track and Record”. We saw Shaggy there but didn’t go over to chat (Okay, I admit. I didn’t know who Shaggy was, had heard his music just didn’t know his name). We spent the night at Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston. It was a very nice place (separate review posted). The next day we headed over to the Bob Marley Museum. It was very interesting. After the tour we boarded the bus to start our trek back to Secrets, stopping at the Mega-mart for snacks and drinks. For lunch we stopped at the Bloomfield Great House in Mandeville. They had the table set up on the veranda for us so we could look out at the view. The food was wonderful. We headed off to our final stop, Appleton Rum Estate for a tour. There is a rum tasting at the end of the tour, 14 kinds of rum. We arrived back at Secrets around 8:30pm. It was the best tour ever. If you see it offered in the Sundial and it works into your schedule… do it!!
When we returned from dinner on our last night, we found the room all done up with rose petals. They were on the bed with towel hearts and in the tub with bubbles, so nice. It’s hard not to have a good time when everyone around you is smiling. If you’re looking to adjust your attitude, this is your place. I have come to believe that there are really no problems in Jamaica, only situations « less

Just returned from a week at Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica. We have been at Maroma, Silver Sands so I expected an excellent week. We arrived and it was crowded with departures and arrivals but we didn't wait long to check in. Our room was not ready since we arrived early so we knew the drill to have a great lunch and come back which we told was about 2 hours. A little long but ok. We arrived back to find out our room was not ready but was been checked over and should be ready, so we finally get to our room and check out the shower, which has a broken shower head. We called and they couldn't fix it. I call the next day front desk and they had some one come up immediately and fix it perfect. We wanted a clock with i pod station and we had to get a new one for 3 days because the station wouldn't work until the last guy was able to get it to work. So little the problems but it took a team and 3 days to fix. Food was great and we were treated to two days of a lobster dinner. Check the schedule to find out what days, not always the same. All the resturants are great with great staff and beautiful presentations of all meals. Rooms are very nice, but I feel for a resort less than 4 years old, that you cheapenthe room with the shower by making it so small. Water was pouring out the front when my husband was showering because he moved to much to the right in the shower. The tolet room is the same small and sideways so if you moved the wrong way you could hit your head on the glass or towel rack inside. But my biggest issue is why did they put all the restaurants in the back of the resort. The people in St. James have a long walk and you have to walk around all the restaurants outside so if it is raining you have to walk in the elements to get to them. They could have made a street by the jewerly and gift shops to get in the middle of the restaurants and then you could shop. By the way there Coco Coffee shop is there where they make great hot and ice coffee. You should be excellent, your other resorts have great walk in showers, have restaurants inside or in a convenient locations. You should have been better not a step back. You will always have a great time at the Secrets Resorts but I can't give this a 5 star for design, the team short changed excellence. But here is my list of excellent staff. Andrew Williams at the Rendez-Vous Bar, order a Golden margarita suggested by Robert. Omar Black, bartender, Joseph, a bellman out front, Kevin at Check in, Stewart and Clive at World Cafe, Noble at watersports, and Oneil and Godfrey, bartenders. They made the trip, they were all super nice and went extra to give you great service. The cleaning staff in our room was great. The Piano Sing along was great but Desires was a disappointment. We enter and it was playing what we call dirty rap, just the F word over and over, We lasted less than a minute and never walk in again. It was a shame because we love to dance and only danced once with the band PACE. They played soft pop music. Close to airport, beaches are clean with a few rocks, bring water shoes. Enjoy the snorkeling with the staff at water sports. Go for the bike ride. Enjoy the beach. « less

Just returned from a second stay at a Secrets hotel and they never seem to disappoint – The Wild Orchid is excellent. • Great location with superb beaches. • Food is first class especially the Bordeaux , Hitmisu and the speciality nights inc Lobster and the Surf & Turf. • Hotel Rooms excellent. • Staff are fantastic.
We were celebrating a 50th birthday and our Silver Wedding and all in all we were extremely well looked after. Upon arrival there was Champagne and a cake waiting in our Room, on my wife’s Birthday Champagne and Cheesecake awaited our return plus a bottle of Rum and other goodies. Then on our Anniversary we booked a romantic dinner in one of the Wedding Gazebo’s and again it’s was fantastic in a lovely setting with great food and service.
We met lot's of great people particularly at the Piano Bar which was a great nights entertainment - Say hi to Phillip and Rayon.
Tip One - maybe book a preferred club suite and you’ll then get access to all the beaches. Tip Two - Ask if there are any offers BEFORE you book the Spa. Even on hot days there are sometimes special offers on for the day. Worth asking as we made good savings. Tip Three - Take Moz spray. My wife didn't suffer but I DID! Didn't spoil things though.
If you are considering the Wild Orchid just go ahead and book it – you’ll love it. « less
