Chattanooga fell in the middle distance of a road trip we were taking. We booked the Chattanoogan blindly on Hotwire for about $100. Hotel's entryway at night is grand - with pots of burning flames at the entrance. Inside, the decor is contemporary, with a nod to the city's heritage. We didn't get in until about 9 p.m. Exhausted, we went to the bar for food and drink. Small, but nice beer selection. Food above average (we ordered from restaurant menu). They aim toward local ingredients (gold star). And we lucked into Wednesday, which is half-price bottle of wine night (wow...if I only lived closer). Room was immaculate. Bathroom spotless. (Clean grout, like-new wallpaper...no dust). Nice assortment of toiletries. And a lit makeup mirror. In the morning, we spent 15 minutes driving around before we finished the second leg of our journey...and I have to tell you, I was surprised and intrigued by what we saw. Hubby and I want to revisit for long weekend. Lots of restaurants, lots of bars, lots of art...the river, etc. Saw several young women power walking with strollers downtown -- which is great and something I didn't expect. Also saw the racks of bikes for rent around town. Awesome. What we thought would be dingy and old...turned out to be quirky and hip....good for you, Chattanooga. We'll be back. « less

we have stayed here several times in the past-always by bidding on priceline-have always gotten decent prices that way-was not super impressed the first time we stayed about 3 yrs ago, before a recent renovation. the furniture was worn, the beds uncomfortable and the towels and lines very scratchy. service was always good though., good late checkout time for 2 old partiers-12:00m noon, the rooms have not improved that much-the linen looks newer but still rubs your skin raw-tried room service breakfast-50.00 for 2-not worth it-small portions-cold upon arrival-(silly point?) water glasses not covered in traditional plastic wrap-this hotel;s rating has gone down to a 3 1/2 from a 4-1 excellent change here-downstairs lounge-new music all the time instead of only jazz-has packed the place out-lots of dancing-fun crowd-may get us to come back sometime-also in their favor-walls are not too thin-front desk service could have been better-maybe she was having a bad day-as for us, we have discovered the convention marriott-like it better and better « less

We were in Chattanooga for my nephew's college graduation and stayed here which was less than two miles from the arena. Love the décor - Arts and Crafts with a modern touch. Beautiful grounds, parking garage, nice lobby and sitting areas, good breakfast buffet. Room pretty standard with comfortable king bed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice, inviting fireplace in the lobby. Really liked this hotel. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it's not really near anything for eating/shopping within walking distance. It's kind of off by itself. As long as you have a car, that's not really in issue. We would definitely stay there again. « less
