Overall, I can only say is you get what pay for. The hotel is used by alot of transients because of price. There is smoking rooms available and the elevator always smelled of smoke. The location is good if you have a vehicle. There is a restaurant across the street and several more within walking distance. « less

This was hands down the nicest super 8 I have ever stayed in. It's still a Super 8 so you're going to get the crinkly comforters and rowdy college students, but the room/bathroom was very clean, the staff was friendly, and we had everything we needed. They were even able to accommodate early check ins for all three rooms in our group. We will be staying here again. It's about a $15 cab ride from the downtown pedestrian mall. « less

I vowed I would never stay at a Super 8 again when previously having one give away my reservation the same day I was to arrive (on graduation weekend, so there was no other hotel available). Charlottesville was having a lot of events, so the Super 8 was all that was available. The staff at this Super 8 were very friendly. The hotel was even a little more updated than I would expect for a Super 8. The reasons for the poor score are that 1) when we arrived there was nobody around to help us and we had to call the hotel to get anyone to come to the front desk. 2) when we checked in, the front desk person (while very friendly) had to go and physically look at the rooms to see which one could accommodate us. Is there not a better system? 3) The bed blanket and comforter had dried blood on them (large splatter about 8 inches wide or so, which we did not discover until wanting to go to bed at midnight. Thankfully, we had two beds, so we switched to the other one. « less

I have never pre paid for a hotel before and never will again. When we arrived at the hotel, it smelled terrible in the lobby and the smell was worse in the hall; there was a permanent indent in the middle of the bed as if the mattress needed replacing five years ago and although our room had just been 'cleaned', it did not appear to be clean. We refused to stay there and when the issue was brought to management, they still refused to refund our money. Which, under the circumstances, is very poor customer service. « less
