I attended a 1 1/2 day conference at Holiday Inn Solomons Conference Center and Marina and then stayed over an extra night to visit friends in the area. It could not have been a better experience. The room was spacious, quiet, and clean, with a large, comfortable king sized bed, flat screen TV, microware/oven, and comfortable arm chairs. Staff was welcoming and responsive. Conference rooms were also spacious and clean. When the conference was over, I asked if I could move from the room in the conference wing selected by my employer to a room with a water view and the staff could not have made it easier. The view from the first room was already good, as it overlooked the pool and grounds, but the second room was beyond words, with a gorgeous view of the marina. « less

Great place in the middle of Solomon's Island, which is a breath taking area. Visited a local winery, ate dinner at a local restaurant/bar, and stopped for a nightcap in the hotel lounge. Check-in took all of five minutes and checkout was even easier. Rooms were comfy with king size beds and very clean. Nice flat screen tv & free wifi...plus they greeted us with a bottle of water, a snickers bar, and a bag of chips for each of us! « less

The Humane Society of Calvert County held it's 4th annual Rock-N-Roll For Rescues at the Holiday Inn Solomons Conference Center and Marina. We have held this event all 4 years there in the Chesapeake Ballroom. We are an all volunteer, non profit organization and they are always very gracious and let us use their venue at no cost. It takes months of planning and everyone is always very helpful and answers our emails quickly. Whatever we need, they provide for us and allow our patrons a special room rate for the evening. The ballroom is beautiful and very spacious. It holds 300 people with ease. They allowed us to come the day before to decorate and prepare out auction. I cannot say enough about how nice everyone is. A special thank you to Shannon Schultz for all of your help. They have already offered to host our event next year. Thank you so much! « less

I had read earlier reviews and was not expecting a good experience here but wanted to attend a conference so I went anyway. The hotel was fine. The room was clean, all bathroom facilities worked well, there was a nice big flat screen tv, a refrigerator with freezer, even a microwave in the room. Also, free WiFi and the code to access it was provided without request at registration. Unlike an earlier reviewer, I liked the pillows -- they were smaller than normal but there were two sets of two each, one set marked 'firm" and one "soft," which I appreciated. As requested, I got a "water view" - sort of a sideways look at a river (?) or bay (?) with a marina. There were nice boardwalks all along the water and marina where I enjoyed some bird watching during a break from the conference.
The conference facilities were excellent.
My only complaint was that getting dinner on Friday night before an 8 pm opening session of the conference was a problem. Five of us arrived at Isaac's, the hotel restaurant, by 7 p.m. There were not a lot of people there but our waitress who was very nice seemed frazzled. She took our orders (four chopped salads that ended up seeming more like Cobb salads) and my order for mussels and bread. We waited and waited. She finally explained that they had "run out of chicken" for the salads. I guess they had to go out somewhere to get some. My mussels were ready but the salads weren't. I asked her to bring the mussels while the others could wait for their salads. She didn't. She finally brought all our food about 7:50. The ones who got salads were very happy with what they got. My mussels were cold and she did not bring a separate bowl for the empty shells, so I had to dig around to get them all. I reminded her that I had asked for bread. She said it would take ten minutes because they had to bake it. I said forget it.
We did not visit the restaurant again except that I went by myself for breakfast the last day (Sunday) and had oatmeal, yogurt (blueberry because they did not have plain) and a mix of cantaloupe, pineapple and honeydew which was fine but not what I would have preferred to put on my oatmeal. They did bring a whole small pot of coffee and a paper cup and lid so I could take the remainder with me, which was nice. « less

People rave so much about this place and I was looking forward to staying here but totally regretted it. The check-in and check-out process was so long because there aren't enough personnel. I shouldn't have to wait in line 15 minutes for each.
A coworker of mine and I had to stay here no thanks to our company travel coordinator. When you come in you're overwhelmed with air freshener also in the rooms. Didn't work well, because when I turned the heat on in my room (the heat stopped working in the middle of the night), my room ended up smelling like cat pee the whole time. The carpet was filthy and turned my socks brown. My mattress and sheets had stains on them (took pictures) and there were balls of hair on the top blanket. The pillows are not of regular size, they are the size of decorative throw pillows and so uncomfortable.
Part of the hotel is only "marina-view" - not water view. You'd be looking at boats, not the river. If you end up in an inner view room, you're overlooking an overgrown, lack of landscaping area with a non-working fountain full of dead leaves.
I had high hopes because I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before that was great but this Holiday Inn was disappointing. « less
