Following a simple drive up from South Beach, we arrived at Ft Lauderdale and found the hotel easily. The car park is hidden around the back of the hotel, but fairly straight-forward once you're there. We had booked a Tower Room which gave us a superb view over the River - a lovely way to start the day! The room itself was spacious with excellent amenities - the A/C was nice and cool and yet extremely quiet too. Right outside of the hotel and you're on Las Olas Blvd, with many excellent bars & restaurants within a 5-10 minutes stroll - would definitely stay here again when next in Ft Lauderdale! « less

We booked this hotel through priceline so we were a little skeptical about what we would end up with. Needless to say we were very pleased. To echo some reviews below, yes it is challenging to find, especiallly where its listed on E Las Olas Blvd but parking there is near impossible so you need to go around the back to SE 4th - no biggie, but certainly worth noting.
The hotel itself is quite charming. Its larger than it lets itself on to be and there are many amenities on site (dining, bar, pool, water taxi, etc). The ladies at the front desk were very helpful on check in and polite. I assume we were in the old part of the hotel just based on other reviews so we were on the 3rd floor. The room had a certain Florida/Spanish charm but was very clean. I was surprised to find that the refrigerator had a lock which you had to request the key from the front desk. Overall though, good size room that was clean ans a great bed and pillows.
The location itself is fantastic. You walk out of the hotel and you're in the thick shops, restaurants and the pool is just across the road on the canal. The beach is only a 15 minute jog, 25 minute walk down the road so you can pack a bag and walk there for the day, or perhaps the water taxi does it faster, I can't review because we didn't take it.
Overall this hotel is a great deal if you can get one. A must stop if you plan on getting a ful taste of what downtown Fort Lauderdale can offer. « less

Overall, I was pleased with the Riverside, but with caveats. It is difficult to locate with GPS and I had to circle the block several times to locate the parking lot and entrance. I finally had to park at an office lot and call the front desk for directions. The check-in staff are extremely helpful and friendly. My biggest complaint is the expense of parking and the parking deck from HELL! The parking deck is extremely cramped and circular. If you are from Europe and used to it, fine. If not, be extremely careful! Why can't they make arrangements to use the parking lot outside the hotel? Is it just for the local shops? « less

In February 2013 I stayed at the Riverside Hotel before a cruise and had a terrific time. This hotel has the best location in the city away from the beach. You can walk everywhere, or public transportation is easily accessible (bus, water taxi, or shuttle to Sawgrass Mills mall). There is a CVS grocery and Starbucks within walking distance. Many quaint shops along Los Olas Blvd, and the Riverwalk too. Based on other reviews, I booked a room in the new tower. Although near the elevators, it was quiet. Hotel restaurant is good. All in all, this will be my hotel of choice when I return to Fort Lauderdale. « less

The Riverside, centrally located on beautiful Los Olas Boulevard and just a few miles from the airport (and immediately adjacent to the oh-so-fun Ft. Lauderdale water taxis - $20 for all-day), is both a classic mid-thirties elegant hotel and an almost-brand-new high-rise addition that retains the Hotel's charm and historic feel. Los Olas Boulevard ("The Waves") leads straight to Ft. Lauderdale's beautiful public beach to the east and to the great shopping, dining, and nightlife area, Riverfront, to the west. Immediately around the Hotel are great shops and restaurants, too. « less
