Stayed here with my son our first time to VA Beach and will definitely be back! It was a little cold outside but there was a ton of indoor activities to keep my 5 year old occupied. He loved the indoor lazy river and the Splash Camp. I could tell that the Splash Camp workers really loved working with children so I felt very comfortable letting him play there (peace of mind=priceless).
The room was clean and bright and the staff were super friendly. We got stopped a few times every day by staff asking how we were and if we needed anything. Lots of smiles and hellos, it really made me feel welcomed and cared for. A few times we needed some extra items and help and Tim from housekeeping was on it and very nice. We really enjoyed eating at the Square Whale, I definitely recommend it.
I have stayed at quite a few hotels that charged about the same price and haven't had the experience I've had staying at this one. The service was really outstanding!
We plan on coming back in the next few months to get some beach time and enjoy the outdoor pools « less

Well within a half hour of checking in last night I fell in love with this hotel. So many things for the kids to do here. Our room is awesome!! We went down to the lazy river right away and loved it. The 2 outdoor pools aren't heated which is a bummer but I didn't mind so much because there are other things to do here. HOWEVER, today when we headed out at 10:30am, Splash Camp wasn't opened up yet. Says they open at 9am. There were no movies posted on the theater wall, but we figure by the time we got back from our day trip, everything would be in full swing. It's not quite warm enough here to be on the beach yet so we totally counted on the indoor activities in this hotel for today/tomorrow. Well, they rented out the theater until Thursday. It is only Monday.....I'm pretty sure I paid decent money to stay here, where they advertised all these wonderful family activities. I am terribley irritated by this. We can only take so much of the swimming in the small lazy river. Can't swim in any other pool because it is unheated and can't use the theater for 3 of the 5 nights I already paid for. Very very disappointed!!! « less

I see you are still in our hotel, so I do not understand why the review was posted without letting us know since you are in the hotel now. I understand that we are holding a meeting in our theatre and apologize for not having it open during the day for use but at night each and every night movies will be played. Our Splash camp was open 9:30am on Monday and all day, I do not understand that Splash Camp was closed part of the review. I am glad that you loved the hotel from the time you walked in and hope you enjoy the rest of your stay. Please let us know if you are unhappy with your stay so we can address it. We enjoy and like all guest reviews but our main priority if you are in the hotel is to assist you right away and speaking to us would be a more proactive approach.

The hotel was somewhat dated, but it was clean, neat, the beds comfortable and the rooms spacious with all having views of the ocean. It had three pools - one indoor and the rest outdoor neither of which was heated. Three restaurants are on the property, with one serving primarily breakfast, and the prices were reasonable. It would help if free coffee were served in the lobby, just as a friendly gesture. Access to the ocean was directly across the boardwalk - however, the weather we had (cold, windy and rainy) was not conducive to swimming or walking on the beach. « less

Thank you for writing a review from you stay with us. I am glad you were satisfied with most of what the hotel had to offer and I am dissapointed we did not meet your expectaction as well. I want to go over a few concerns, first the hotel was fully renovated 3 years ago. Coffee is free in every single room with the coffee maker and during the winter we do set up a coffee station in the lobby. Also on property, we have 3 restaurants where you can get coffee at all times. I look forward to seeing you back soon and would love to discuss your concerns about the outdated look of the hotel and find out where on property you felt that way so it can be addressed.

i have been to Virginia Beach annually for the last 10 years and this is BY FAR THE BEST HOTEL ON THE BEACH. The hotel has 4 pools and a hot tub, one of the pools and hot tub are indoors and the others are outdoor. I have never seen a hotel at the beach which has that many pools and 2 of them are lazy rivers. Also the have two small water slides and 3 restaurants. Rooms were always clean and the food was delicious.
The staff is exceptional and would go out of there way to make the guest happy. I overheard one of the valet guys talking to a guest who had no place to put his dog because by the time they got in the kennels were closed. The valet guy told the guest that he would dog sit and enjoy the weekend. That is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen.
I will be back yearly as always but will always be staying at the Holiday Inn North Beach, thank you for a great weekend. « less
