Freiburg is a historic town on the edge of the Black Forest, close to both Switzerland and France, and the hotel is well placed to explore the surrounding area; the Münster cathedral is a kilometre from the hotel, as is Zum Roten Bären, thought to be Germany's oldest inn. The Black Forest offers recreation such as hiking, fishing, mountain biking and seasonal downhill skiing. A bus service operates between the airport and Freiburg's main train station. The hotel is located next to the main train station. Freiburg's old town is easy to get around on foot. Otherwise, there are the buses and trains of the city's public transport system (VAG), free access to which is granted to guests of the InterCityHotel.
Driving directions: From the airport take the motorway to the German border/Autobahn A5 in the direction of Karslruhe. Take exit Freiburg/Mitte, in the direction of city centre/main station. The hotel is directly by the main station.
