I checked in on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 and the young lady at the front desk was cheerful, polite and very helpful. My request for a king bedded room was not available so she checked me into a room with 2 queen beds. The room was an average size and decor was the same. There was significant construction in progress outside and the noise was evident in the room. There was so much noise outside that the room came equiped with earplugs to help you sleep. The construction noise was not their fault, construction is everywhere in Washington DC.
I was there on business so getting a good night's rest was important despite the noise outside. When I went to bed that night I noticed the sheet covering the mattress was bunching up under me and coming off the bed making the sleep process difficult. By morning the sheet under me was completely off the bed and the exposed pad was also comming off. I was in a hurry in the morning so I put the card on the bed to have the sheets changed and forgot about it. Late that evening I got into bed and that night's experience was even worse than the night before. It was so bad that in the morning I took pictures (attached below). As it turned out, on both nights the housekeeping staff had used double bedded sheets on a queen bed which didn't even reach to the bottom of the mattress so it was impossible to secure by folding under. It wasn't a mistake, someone just got very lazy and didn't bother to go back and get the right sheets for that bed size. I reported it to the front desk on the following morning and with a slight chuckle that front desk person said they would make sure I would have the right sheets that night. Finally on the third night I had the proper sheets and got a reasonable night's sleep. A Starwood property should know better and not allow that type of service challenge. When I checked out after the third night I was asked by the front desk attendant about my stay. I explained the situation and the solution was to offer me 1,000 Starwood points. I will not be returning to that hotel. « less

The hotel is nice in a very good location. the rooms are not huge but a decent size. We were 4 people staying in a room with 2 beds. 2 adults and 2 kids. I am really writing this review because of an incident that happened in our room with one of the kids. One of the kids got sick in the room and we called down to housekeeping late at night. The Front desk answered and immediately sent someone up with new room keys for us to move to a different room. This was a big help. For the reason of the front desk person and the housekeeping that took care of the mess we thank you for making our trip great! would highly recommend the service of the hotel. Another tip is we asked the door man if he knew a cab driver that could get us to BWI airport for a flat fee and he did. He called someone for us and we paid $70 flat plus the tip. this was a very good deal considering we were 4 people. also no MARC train on Sundays. Amtrak was very pricey. « less

I usually do not stay at the Four Points Hotel but all the hotels in DC were sold out. I did not pay a discount price for this line, cost was comparable to Westin and Sheraton however the quality if the room was nit the same. The biggest compliant was that the air conditioning unit (one if the wall units from the 1970s) blew in my face all night long. I couldn't adjust the vents. The staff were friendly but not worth the price. « less

I am sorry you did not feel we provided value in your stay. Our hotel rates reflect demand and our location downtown and the time of year. When the city is full, our rates will reflect that fact as will all other hotels in the neighborhood. Our rates are usually below those charged at other hotels in the area and when our higher rates reflect strong demand, rest assured those hotels around us are higher as well. I am not certain where you would find better rates at a Sheraton or Westin but not here in Washington in Springtime. Thank you again for your visit.

After flying 1/2 way across the country to stay at this hotel (reservations made 2 months in advance) this hotel -- without any warning -- dumped our reservations. It "overbooked" and left dozens of people without rooms, after they'd traveled for 5-6 hours and arrived, tired and distraught, at midnight. I was lucky that the hotel did give us another hotel, about 10 miles away (even though i had booked this hotel b/c it was within walking distance of our convention). We had to check into the other hotel after midnight, get up at 6 a.m., schlep our bags back to the Sheraton and leave them so we could get to our business meetings. It was uncomfortable and there was no insurance that we would have a room that evening. No extra compensation, not a free meal, nothing. We were told "this happens in DC all the time" and treated as if we were dumb to expect anything better.
The hotel did accommodate us eventually, and we stayed because it was close to the Convention Center, but it tight, not the cleanest, had very slow wi-fi, and was very noisy. Would not recommend.
BTW, neither the general manager nor David Miller at the Sheraton hotel (management) ever called me back or tried to make any compensation. Great business people. « less

I am sorry for your disappointment even after I communicated with you following your visit. As I explained, unfortunately due to cancellations of flights on that day with severe weather in the Midwest and schedule delays with the air traffic slowdown, some departing guests were unable to leave and we found ourselves unable to accommodate some arriving guests, including you. While we and other hotels try to avoid this, it can happen at times. As we do in these cases, the hotel found you another room for the first night and paid the costs for that room as compensation and your first night in Washington was at no cost. This was explained to you by our Manager on your return and again when I wrote you after your departure. I am sorry this was not to your satisfaction. Thank you again for your visit.

The hotel is located central to many things. ıf you are in DC for the cherry blossom you are at the correct place. Everything is at a walking distance. Being near the public transport is an extra plus for the hotel. It is not easy to find a reasonable hotel in that region for that price. The rooms were big and clean. The rooms facing the K Street is a big noisy during the night. The hotel is located in the corner so when the lights turn red, an engine comes to the rooms. The hotel management provides ear plugs to overcome this problem. We didn't use ear plugs for the first night and the room was a bit noisy. The next morning I realized that the window was not closed properly. After closing the window tightly traffic noise stopped completely and we did not hear any thing the second night. There are many good restaurants around the region where you can have a descent dinner. « less
