I don't think that this hotel is a 5 star, maybe 4. Nice hotel, great location, and great breakfast but when checking in we ended up carry our own luggage up b/c there was no bellstand person when checking in. (he came on our way to the elevator) Rooms are very dark even with all the lights on-couldn't exactly read a book. The beds are low and have a pillow top which aren't that comfortable. The sheets always coming untucked. The spa doesn't have alot of staff. The only one there would be the person that's giving you the service and only one massage at a time. (it was very good) Also had a anti aging facial. Save your money, not worth it. But again, good location and breakfast. « less

First of all, this is a stunningly beautiful hotel. From the moment I first set eyes on it, I fell in love with the place. Because the smaller garden room I had booked was not available, the receptionist upgraded me to a Junior Suite overlooking the grounds. The bedroom was spacious, exquisitely furnished and the prints of old masters on the walls were redolent of an earlier era. There's a transparent window pane over the bed which looks into the ultra modern bathroom which boasts a deep bathtub as well as a rain-shower. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were maintained in immaculately clean condition. So sincere thanks to the fantastic chambermaid who looked after it.
If I'm honest, however, I will admit that the large statue of the vividly coloured poodle in the garden (although designed to be humorous and provocative) is just a bit OTT for a such a stylistic hotel. You would need a pair of shades just to protect your eyes from the glare emanating from this canine monstrosity!
On the second night of my stay, I dined in the bar (because I was on my own, I did not book the more formal surroundings of the hotel restaurant). The food in the bar was superb, including a tender piece of filet steak accompanied by the crispest frites imaginable (the Belgians make the best chips in the world!) and an irresistible glass of Burgundy. They also made me the tastiest of Dame Blanche's for dessert. The following morning I had breakfast in the main restaurant. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I've ever experienced (including a chef who produces extraordinary omelettes and a chocolate bar overflowing with Willie Wonka-like treats). The only slight downside being that I asked for the standard breakfast, but they still billed me for Euro 33 top-of-the-range feast (which - I later discovered - included champagne which I never tasted).
On the day I departed the hotel, I phoned the receptionist to ask her whether I could stay until 1.00 p.m. for a fee. She told me she would have to check this out, but never got back to me. In the end, I phoned her again at about 11.40 p.m., only to be told that housekeeping needed to service my room as the hotel was full that (coming) night. This response struck me as somewhat bizarre given that I only wanted to stay for one hour extra and that I was willing to pay for the privilege. Although I would love to return to this hotel, their inflexibility in relation to check-out time left a bad taste in my mouth. Having spent Euro 600 for the pleasure of my stay there, I would have expected them to humour my request for an extra hour in the room. « less

1 - Arrived to the hotel and sent us to the garden view room which in fact is the bin view. Had no time to complain as we were going to the restaurant outside the hotel and did not want to arrive late. DO NOT ACCEPT ROOM 603. 2 - Room is dirty. Did not use or clean for weeks. 3 - Service is poor. Check out is at 1200. My wife was doing a very expensive spa treatment at 1130 lasting for 75 min. Asked the hotel desk to check out at 0100 and they said it was not possible as they needed the room at 0300... So I asked her to go and pick my wife up from the spa... She reconsidered her position and after asking her manager she accepted we leave at 0100. 4 - In the invoice they add a contribution to an NGO without even asking.
If you pay 500 EUR for one night you expect a little bit more. « less
