We spent one night here. We had booked a 'Junior Suite' in the old palacete section of the hotel. The first thing I had to do was call reception to request toilet paper for the bathroom. When we returned to our room after dining in Setubal, we decided to bathe and go to bed. Then we noticed the noise, sounds of furniture being dragged along a floor, persistent banging and what sounded like drilling. We called reception to ask if any work was taking place (even though it was by now 11 p.m.). The receptionist could hear the noise on the other end of the phone, it was that bad. It turned out a conference party was using the roof-top dining room three floors above us and we could hear their chairs being scraped along the floor and the elevator taking them to and from the dining room. Fortunately the hotel was not full and ,despite the hour, we were offered a choice of three alternative rooms. Two were no improvement because of the noise of neighbourhood dogs barking. We finally found one which was relatively quiet and were able to sleep.
For a Four-Star rated hotel the Sado was a great disappointment. Apart from the noise and the toilet paper, the breakfast choice was very meagre (cereals, rolls, toast and drinks), and not fresh. However, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, particular the night receptionist who held us find an alternative room and our breakfast waiter. « less

Nice hotel a little of the beaten track. You can probably walk to town center if you want. It felt safe but a taxi was note more then 5 Euros so given this the choice was simple! Really good and nice room with excellent beds ( at least 216) We did note have the breakfast since we ate that at the golf club very morning. Its a 15 min drive to Montado. The staff was helpful when booking taxi etc. « less

Up the hill to the west of the city, Hotel do Sado benefits from a superb location with excellent views. The rooms are spacious, air conditioning fine, beds comfortable and terraces with great views. You can eat dinner up on the eighth floor with dizzying views all round: food is good but on the pricey side for Setubal. I found breakfasts to be excellent, with the ever-attentive Pepe a great host. "Anything you want, I will bring it!" Very reasonable prices for the quality of hotel. « less

good quality, contemporary hotel. the perfect base both for exploring the Serra region, discovering the wine route or visting Setubal city and the estuary. Very spacious room with a nice terrace overlooking the Sado-river. And the hotel's top floor restaurant gives a magnificent 360 degree view from the hills over the city centre all the way down to the river ! Great. Good location for business and pleasure. While you can have your business contacts in one of the various meeting rooms, your family can enjoy the region. Only the addition of a plunge pool or jacuzzi on the (enormous) terrace could make it even better. « less
