I very much enjoyed the atmosphere of Hotel Carlton. The decor was both intriguing and relaxing - soothing and comfortable but with interesting objects lying around. It seems like the hotel was designed to look like the home of someone who had spent their life travelling around the world collecting souvenirs, art, and cool furniture. The rooms were equally well-decorated and provided a relaxing atmosphere, although they were a bit on the smaller side. The Hotel Carlton is also one of the few hotels in San Francisco to be equipped with solar panels, and is certified by the City of San Francisco as a Green Business and LEED EB GOLD. So, they take 'environmentally friendly' to the next level. They have a nightly wine hour in the lobby as well, and are connected to an elegant middle eastern restaurant. In general, this is a great property in a good location (more distant from tourist attractions than other hotel options, but in a very nice neighborhood to walk around in) and they are very reasonably priced. I would recommend them.

Hotel Carlton is also a non-smoking and pet-friendly San Francisco hotel.The Hotel Carlton is one of the few hotels in San Francisco to be equipped with solar panels and is proud to be certified by the City of San Francisco as a Green Business and LEED EB GOLD. Green businesses help reduce waste and protect our environment by employing pollution prevention practices, minimizing waste and conserving energy, water and other natural resources
