We stayed one night at the Marriott Norfolk Chesapeake. We selected this hotel because we are loyal Marriott customers for 7 years, and we wanted a nice indoor pool so the kids could swim after a long day of driving. The lobby and our room were not unlike most Marriotts in this class. It was clean, and modern. No problems. After unpacking, we hurried down to the pool as it was getting close to the kids bedtimes, and found the pool crowded and the environment anything but relaxing. There were probably 30 to 40 kids in the pool and it was loud. Normally this would not be a problem, as I enjoy kids having fun. However, it appeared after a little while that some may not have been guests at the hotel as people began coming and going from an exterior door to the parking lot. This is a little concerning in that I come to the Marriott for a premium experience and two, what security is my family afforded if people are allowed to access the facilities through exteriors doors without checking in through the lobby? The interior door is locked with key card access. Another problem I've now had during my last 2 stays at Marriott hotels is the lobby bar. What kind of bar can't do a simple Jack and coke? At least the Marriott Norfolk Chesapeake told me they did not have coke, or diet anything other than pepsi for that matter, before charging me $9 as did a previous Marriott. Overall, my last few stays at Marriotts have not live upto expectation. No upgrades, and other issues as described above have become too common place. Sadly, I will be looking at other hotel chains in the future. My next business trip I will be staying at a Westin Hotel. « less

Stayed late last summer for a long leisure weekend with the family and had a very good experience. Modern lobby with good service at the front desk. Our room was comfortable with a work desk, new LCD TV, and refrigerator. The kids swam in the indoor pool had a good time. To the side of the main hotel is the conference center and rooms, there was a wedding going on during one of our nights and I was afraid of too much noise but that was not the case at all. There is an onsite restaurant and we ate breakfast there and it was good with a pretty decent selection on their buffet. You have to pay for it and it is rather pricey but on this occasion, the front desk gave us a coupon as part of the welcome and that certainly helped, I believe we got that perk because I am a Marriott rewards member but I'll take it. We would stay again if there the chance arises. « less

Stayed 3 nights from February 25-28. Upon entering the lobby, it is bright and the decorations are modern. The friendly lady in the front desk promptly checked me and my two co-workers in with a smile. The room itself was clean and had floor to ceiling windows for a great view. The bed was comfortable, there was a desk for working, a large LCD TV and an empty refrigerator. The bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. There were freshly baked cookies in the lobby when we returned early evening and the ladies behind the desk greeted us whenever we passes them. My only complaint is that breakfast wasn't included; it was $12 extra, which I didn't have. I would stay at this Marriott again. « less

My husband and I have stayed at this particular Marriott for the past two years now for either a birthday or an anniversary....and we have NEVER been disappointed! From the front desk, to the various floor workers....they are extremely helpful and seem to care about making your stay as special as possible! The hotel as a whole is kept in great running order, and the rooms are well appointed with cozy beds, contemporary furniture, and a wonderful shower you won't want to get out of! We were even pleasantly surprised by hot apple cider and warm sugar cookies the night we stayed...which was the perfect unexpected bonus to a cold and rainy day like the one we had when we arrived. This hotel and the staff who manage this Marriott always seems to find a way of exceeding our expectations....which is such a blessing since these moments alone (with six little ones back at home) are so very precious and rare! « less
