This is my third time in Holiday Inn Shenzhen on business, I seem to be here once a year. This time i got room on the 17th floor and it should be "renovated". I still hate the carpeting because it is dusty. Bed is ever so comfortable, bell boys friendly and helpful, breakfast the same (loved the strong coffee!) and location excellent. Bathroom is very tiny compared to the room size. Wifi coming and going; one day it worked perfectly, next day not at all. What to say; decent hotel on business and for the price. However, next time I will want to have a room further away from the elevator corridor, as I woke up with the elevator's blinging sound sometimes. « less

This centrally located hotel overall is pretty good, with a huge variety of styles of breakfast on offer. However although the room was comfortable and had everything it does need updating. You need to turn on every light to get something only just reasonable. Why cant you have one switch to turn on a central bright light ? Also the shower is one of these dark, min bath affairs that are not good as either. A standard set in the 90's or before. « less

I know this is an odd header. I also know that it is my fault and not the hotels. I have to warn everyone not to make the same mistake I made. You see, there are complimentary bottles of water provided in the rooms. AND there are bottles available that you have to pay for. They are kept side by side. Very easy to pick up the wrong bottles if you are clueless like I was - then get a surprise at check out. Other than that, the room was comfortable. The location was adequate. Lots of places to eat and entertain yourself. The food in the restaurant was not bad. The people were relatively good. Nothing really outstanding. It felt that there was no effort spent on doing an exemplary job. « less

The Holiday Inn Shenzen Donghua is centrally located about half way between Shekou and Loahu, I arrived at the Lo Wu crossing and took a 10-15 minute cab ride (I had the concierge at my apartment write the address in Chinese and would suggest if you do not speak the language you get this done as well). The hotel lobby is huge and check in was quick and easy. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. They helped me to catch a cab to my appointment right after taking a quick shower. They also reminded me that there was a special on the breakfast buffet but I would have to let them know before midnight which I did. They have a fitness centre loosely attached (it was about a 5 minute walk through a labyrinth of hallways) but was well appointed with lots of equipments, weights, and also a wonderful swimming pool. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous with a combination of Asian and Western dishes. I booked the room online and the price was very reasonable, The room was large with wireless/hardwired broadband, cable, a sitting area and a king sized bed. The bathroom was a little small and the water pressure a little low for my personal taste. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Shenzen. It was clean, comfortable, and the service was really good. « less
