I stayed at the Starling for a tradeshow at the exposition hall across the street. The room I had was spacious by European standards and in the distance, I could see the jagged mountain tops of the French Alps. I also had a nice view of the runways at the Geneva Airport, but the rooms are very well insulated and I could not hear the planes at all.
The overall hotel has a nice feel and they have tried to update where necessary. But for the price you pay to stay at this hotel (I paid 380 francs per night), one might expect to have more upscale items. The bed was average but kind of springy, the bathroom counter was fitted with large molded plastic top (not ceramic) and the shower could have used a good scrubbing. The desk chair upholstery had some strange stains on it, maybe circa 1990. Also, my hairdryer was not working. I asked for a replacement, and the hotel actually has you sign a sheet saying that you will pay for the replacement if it goes missing. For a hotel that charges over 350 francs per night, you shouldn't have to sign out a replacement hair dryer.
The positive aspects of this hotel are the service and the breakfast. The staff were always very friendly, polite and respectful. The breakfast service staff were all oh so nice. Also, the breakfast itself was good, with a large variety of cold and hot items to choose from.
This hotel is good for business travelers who need to be a the exposition hall early in the morning, but the rooms could use a little refreshing. « less

The hotel is minutes from the airport via free shuttle bus. It's enormous. Pleasant reception, pleasant welcome. Sadly, the restaurant is closed Saturday and Sunday. However, the bar serves food, and I was lucky enough to be able to sit on the terrace for my dinner on Sunday night. Food was ok, service very lovely and helpful. My room was spacious and clean and pleasantly cool. Beds are a matter of taste. I prefer mine firmer, rather than softer. My bed was too soft for my liking. Breakfast is not bad, but not worth CHF39, or CHF32, if booked in advance. No Jasmine tea. Coffee only from a pre percolated thermos. Not impressive for that sort of money. I'd stay again, because its conveniently placed for my purposes, but this hotel lacks atmosphere. The staff, however, are delightful. « less

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel recently and was hugely impressed at the level of service provided. The welcome and checking in process was highly professional and very thorough. The rooms were all very well appointed and the executive suites were amazing. I was covering a two day event for a news organisation and found that the hotel conference centre and facilities were extremely well organised. The fact that it was so close to the airport made it the perfect venue for international delegates. The High Speed internet facilities really were 'high speed' which was essential to me for filing TV news packages. The only criticism I have is that one side of the hotel is close to a warehouse distribution centre which starts operation at around 5am each working day. Apart from that the hotel was amazing. « less

The hotel is very close to the airport inspite shuttle service is offered for the guests to make sure they arrive properly. The lobby area and the rooms are huge and equipped with modern furniture and decoration. Rooms are very comfortable, closet has lights in and you even find a water boiler and ironing equipment. The bathroom is also huge with all the comfort features needed. Breakfast is great offering a huge variety of food. Although its price is high (CHF 39,-) it doesn't include espresso coffee just an awful one. But this is the only thing to complain about. We even ate at the L'Olivo Restaurant of the hotel which was also excellent. No idea about the price, but good quality for sure! « less
