We stopped at the North Carolina Welcome Center on I-77 N, and the wife picked up a book of hotel discount coupons in which we found a coupon for the Cornelius, NC, EconoLodge advertising a room and “deluxe” continental breakfast for $49. Just what the doctor ordered! The hotel is very conveniently located only a minute off I-77 on a quiet side street, Torrence Chapel Road, which is easily found and well protected from loud traffic noise. There is an outside pool, but it was not yet open for the season when we stayed here. The property and rooms were very well maintained and clean; the queen-sized mattress in our room yeilded a great night's sleep. The property is pet friendly for a $15 additional fee. They honored the $49 coupon with no problems (a $20 discount off the regular price), and check-in was a breeze. The discounted room price did not qualify for reward points although the stay was logged with the reward program. The EconoLodge has no restaurant on site, but about one-half a block (walking distance on a nice evening) on down Torrence Chapel is a small shopping plaza which among a variety of stores and shops had three nice places to eat; a large ‘home cookin’ restaurant, an Irish Pub, and a large pizza/sports bar. My only negative comment (such as it is – but it just struck me as humorous) is about the promise of a “deluxe” continental breakfast in the ad. The continental breakfast consisted of one carafe of OJ, one carafe of coffee, a selection of 3 cold cereals; 4 pieces of cold pastry; and bagels, English muffins, & toast (laid out 2 peices at a time). I note this only because a week earlier we had stayed a competitor chain who served hot items, fresh fruit, and a large and varied section of items on the continental breakfast for the exact same price. How-some-ever, this establishment is convenient to the interstate, quiet, well maintained, clean, and an overall good value (look for a coupon) for the weary traveler. Just don't expect a "deluxe" breakfast ;-) « less

Stayed for three weeks while working in the area (McGuire Nuclear Station) and was pleased with the room and service. Because of the extended stay the room was discounted and at that price was a bargain. The room was not new, but it was taken care if and clean. The desk help and staff were very cordial and helpful. « less

Beds...old, other furniture..old, bathroom..old, television..old... This was really like stepping into a time capsule. There are some serious upgrades needed. It wouldn't be so bad if the room items were at least CLEAN, but unfortunately, they are not. The bathtub was clogged and it forced you to shower while standing in your own dirt! Ok..on to the beds...the mattresses were so worn and thin, i would really recommend bringing extra pillows and comforters! And Lysol!! (just in case) Please don't get too excited about the continental breakfast... Hard muffins and bagels is all you're gonna get. There is a toaster if you want them toasted and a gallon of milk for everyone to take turns pouring out of. THE PLUS SIDE to this hotel is the staff...very friendly bunch and helpful, but other than that, keep driving. « less

This is a clean and convenient spot right off I-77 as you're headed south --- you can even see it from the interstate, but the road noise isn't bothersome. We like to stop there after driving 8 hours and avoid the conjestion that is Charlotte --- better to tackle that fresh in the morning on our way down south! There is a shopping plaza just a few minute's walk from the motel, featuring Indian food, a pizza pub, a diner, small shops, etc. The Econo Lodge staff are always friendly, and the breakfast in the morning is adequate to get you going. Plus, it's reasonable, and it's pet friendly. « less

We stayed twice in August on our way to and from Atlanta. The first room we had was okay. It was clean enough, though the furniture was worn and broken, and we only stayed the one night, but the second time we were given a room that hadn't been cleaned. There was gunk on the soap stuff by the sink, and the toilet had a trail of feces down its front. They did give us a different room immediately, but I was so grossed out that I still say "yucch" about the whole place. Even the second room had broken and worn furniture. We stayed there because of a good highway coupon rate, but from now on, we'll pay more for a better quality experience. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"My middle school band and I have been extremely pleased with the service we received from your company. I had many choices for hotels very quickly and the hotels I considered were all excellent. Even after I selected our hotel, your agents stayed in contact with me periodically and even arranged a free upgrade of my room to a suite! What a nice surprise! I plan to book my next trip through them and would highly recommend them to my friends for their group travel plans. Thanks for a great experience." C.C. - Grove Hill, AL
"Everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely use your service whenever we travel as a group. I have been telling everyone I know who have children on sports teams that travel about you. Thank you for everything." M.L. - Orlando, FL
