I have stayed here a couple of times, when it first opened and a few years ago. Check in was fine, a little slow but i was in no rush. I asked for as sea view room and was told that would be an extra 20 pounds, why not i thought. I got to the room and oh dear. house keeping really need to look at their standards. No other words for it, dirty. This is meant to be at the top of the range, why then is there gum on the carpet, dust on the side tables, the hand basin in the bathroom needs a good clean, the bath grouting is mouldy and the taps are full of lime scale. Its not all bad. The staff are good, the bar staff pay attention and listen, they want to serve you. I did not eat in the restaurant but did have a club sandwich in the bar, really nice but 14.00.......? If i have to be honest for 120.00 I did not get what i wanted. I will stay at the Premiere Inn next time and have a slap up mean with the money I save. Come on De Vere show the Grand some respect and upgrade our batrooms. « less

My boyfriend took me here as a surprise for my birthday. The outside facade is very beautiful and adds a bit of pizazz to your visit. We were very nicely greeted by Tom who is helpful, knowledgable and a good giggle! Our room was... Lovely. We didn't have the best room, and a pretty poor view but it still made you 'ahhh' when you came in. It was clean and roomy. We had no hot water for our stay, and although nothing was done about it, the team were very apologetic and we got some money off the weekend. The manager, Stephen, very amicable in the situation. The swimming pool area needs some updating but the spa and gym was very flash! Alot of money is due to be spent on the hotel in the next year so I expect things can only get better! The people definitely make the stay here.... Would recommend :) « less

We booked an Executive Suite with harbor view for the night before our cruise out of Southampton. After a long and stressful trip from Germany we arrived at the hotel to find we had been upgraded to the Carver Suite. Check in was quick as well as our checkout. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Every interface we had with the staff was dealt with quickly and to our complete satisfaction. We felt like we were valued customers from the first minute until check out. We saw none of the problems in any of the common areas that other reviews talked about. The restaurant, bar and lounge areas were clean and well kept. It would be unreasonable to expect everything to be in pristine condition. The breakfast offered a full range of items and well prepared. We used the offered cruise parking package and the transfer to the cruise terminal was on time. On return the transportation came within five minutes of our call and we were back at the hotel within ten minutes from our arrival phone call. The staff quickly had our keys and we were on our way home. The stay at the Grand Harbor was completely relaxing and stress free. We would and have already recommended this hotel to our friends. « less

Hotel looks impressive from the outside. Check in staff were friendly but the room was not ready to be checked into until well past 5pm. The room was very tired and dated, saggy mattresses, bathroom a bit tatty, and considering there were 2 of us sharing a twin room, the refreshments were not sufficient for 2 people. The pianist in the bar area was a really nice touch. Breakfast in the morning was superb, a fantastic choice of items, though for a 4 star hotel, I was surprised that there were no staff available to serve the cooked breakfast items. Overall my impression of the hotel was that of a 3 star, although having a pianist stood it out a bit more. The rooms are desperately in need of updating though. « less

I am disappointed enough to come on here and share my experiences of Grand harbour southamtpon I have been coming to this hotel for 34 yrs and now that it has been taken over I must voice my opions as I have done to the management team but they dont seem to care either ! we are paying for leisure facilites of which half the time they cannot be used freezing cold dirty broken or just being use for swim aroebics, the chaining rooms are dirty and smelly and some lockers dont work, staff are rude and have a dont care less attidude and management say pay up or shut up ! the gym equipement is old and outdated and broken and and generally used for the staff who overtake the place, and now they have the adasity to only let us park for four hours well I cannot have breakfast and go to gym pool jazucci and sauna and steam room in four hours, if I pay to park extra I pay 2.50 per hour and I can park in council car park adjacent for 1.20 ???? The staff here are rude and they couldnt care less ! come on management why dont you answer the questions instead of hiding in your offices ??? People on here are complaining and they would like the hotel to sort itself out but you will not why not ??? answer please on a postcard ??? « less

"We greatly appreciate your help. We had made arrangements with a hotel and then found out that it was located in a bad part of town. The trip is in three weeks and we felt doomed. I found your site and we had bids from three hotels within 1 hour. On such short notice and a larger group .. We are thrilled !! Thanks !!" T.G. - Missouri City, MO
