The Shangri-La chain runs very good hotels, this is one of their best.
The service by all staff was exceptional, courteous, pleasant, not obtrusive. The rooms are large and those overlooking the river have an excellent view. The beds appear to be double doubles, you can get lost in them. The food was only sampled at breakfast, there were 15 food stations featuring every major national food, vegetarian, pastry an wonderful array and all very good.
The location is on the east bank, make sure to walk into the park across from the hotel to see the breadth of the Bund. « less

I find staying at the Shangri-La all over the world as fantastic, and the Pudong hotel certainly lived up to my expectations, and even surpassed it with the amazing selection of food available at their breakfast restaurant! The rooms were spacious and the service by the hotel's staff is consistently fabulous. The entire hotel is huge with two wings, and there's a great view of the Bund towards Puxi from the function rooms. The hotel has two shopping centers right next to it. What really impressed me, so I will mention it once again, is the food - if you like that sort of thing. :-) Highly recommended. « less
