Before attending the Sharks playoffs game, we stopped by the nearby De Anza Hotel and the Lounge just through the lobby. This place is a "hidden gem" in downtown San Jose. An elegant room that takes you back decades in time, absolutely beautiful decor with a convenient patio. Enjoyed the surprise trio of young ladies playing saxophone for a local gathering, Appetizers were very good. I'm going back for Happy Hour. « less

Hotel is in a great location if you are attending an event at HP Pavilion. Valet parking was quick and friendly. Raid the Pantry at night was a nice touch. Turndown service was supposed to be provided but when we returned to the room after a Sharks game, we had to hunt for the bed pillows. Turn down was done the 2nd night. The stay was a gift and the arrangements for payment had been made in advance. When we checked out we were only supposed to pay for the valet. They asked for the entire amount at check out. Knowing the hoops the giver had jumped through to pay for it, we questioned it and were told it was not prepaid. After refreshing their memory of the hoops they only charged us for the valet. Room was very comfortable but be careful when stepping in and out of the tub/shower. There is even a plaque posted to warn you to be careful. « less

We stayed at the De Anza one night for our niece's wedding. The venue was perfect for a small intimate wedding The bar was nice and a great place for wedding guests to gather before the ceremony. However, the hotel is very expensive. Because of that, we chose a standard room. We were given the room next to the elevator so maybe that was the problem, but the room was VERY small for the price we paid. Other people have raved about the location of the hotel. Yes, it is within walking distance to many things BUT they failed to mention it is directly, and I mean directly under the landing pattern for the San Jose airport. Flights stop landing around 10 but resume at 7 in the morning. The planes looked like they were landing on the roof next door and very noisy. Fun to watch as long as you are an early riser. Add valet parking to the cost as well, since street parking is hard to find. « less

If your idea of a good hotel is The Ritz Carlton then no.. this isn't them. But what it IS is a beautiful luxury hotel at an EXTREMELY low price. If you need more then what they offer? You're being too picky and downright rude. Sorry, but this place is phenomenal.
The ONLY thing that could be better is the size of the room. That's something they can't help « less

This is a great hotel for HP Pavilion events. We attended the NCAA second and third rounds at the HP, This hotel is about 4 blocks away from the venue easy walking distance. This is an older hotel that has been recently renovated. We enjoyed our stay, room was a bit small but very posh. There is a restaurant and bar available. We did not try the restaurant but the bar was very nice. Valet parking was very convenient, we could walk to almost any bar and restaurant in downtown San Jose. Highly recommend, and will stay there again. « less
