Close to Porta Susa train station & N°13 tram stop (which could help you come back after a day walk ! - ticket in nearby Tabacchi) Too few private parking available for Euro 19.-/day. better make a reservation. Quiet nice triple bedroom on the 4th floor looking the backyard. Good self-service breakfast. Pathway to the center is charming under all these typical porticoes which protect you from rain or sun! If tired, Pizzeria 31 just opposite Cernaia street is worth to try! Enjoy your stay as we did !! « less

Friendly , helpful staff. Good clean rooms and free wi fi (not the best but adequate) in a great location. Just 200 metres from Ports Susa station with a few bars and Pizzerias close by, a supermarket 50 metres away and the public transport stops very close. The walk into the city centre was 10 minutes and the glorious arches made the walk even nicer. Lovely hotel which catered really well for a party of 45 young footballers and 8 staff. We will return and I can think of no greater compliment. « less

I never thought I would write such a negative comment about a hotel which has been so warmly recommended by visitors but, quite frankly, I do not understand all the positive comments about the Diplomatic. We spend at least a week-end in Turin per year and wanted a change of location and hotel as we always tend to stay at the Mercure Crystal Palace (near Porta Nuova station) (Very good but a little expensive). The Diplomatic is a hotel which is not badly located at the end of Via Cernaia with good transport links to the centre. However, it has seen better days and even though it was spotlessly clean, the rooms could do with a revamp. We had a family room (called junior suite) which was great for a family with 2 young children. Sadly the Free Wifi didn’t seem to reach our room, not a problem for a family break, but a serious problem for anyone who needs an internet connection. The quality of breakfast was not very good at all (fruit juices made from powder; I did not think this kind of thing still existed), coffee was OK after a few attempts (from a “vending” machine), cereals were not good). The staff in Reception seemed rushed and was not particularly friendly. I was waiting politely behind an American gentleman thinking only one receptionist was doing check-outs but to my surprise the 2nd receptionist proceeded to attend to a group of Italian tourists who had turned up after me. As we had pre-paid our accommodation (We always do to get the best rate) I thought I was only paying for parking at 19€/night and city tax. The receptionist requested my credit card without ever showing me the invoice. In good faith I gave here my Euro credit card, to which she explained that they normally needed the credit card used to make the booking (UK £ Credit card) but would accept it anyway. [She obviously had the booking details in front of her to know this] When I finally looked at the invoice, it showed a 2-night stay + car parking. My husband who had arrived in Reception had to take over at that point, as I was fuming (the receptionist kept insisting that the accommodation had not been paid). He explained that the room had already paid for online, Hotels.com) and the only remaining charges to pay were the car park. He then asked for a refund on our credit card but I do not think the staff knew what was going on. During this whole exercise, we were looked at as if we were completely crazy and we never had a word of apology from either receptionist. As a summary, there are much better hotels in Turin of a similar official standard (4-star) and I would strongly recommend not staying at the Diplomatic (it certainly was our first and last time). ________________________________

Turn .is a really lively, cultured and attractive city, with masses to do for all the family at any time of year - it is great just walking about under the arcades which permeate the city, top notch shopping, great museums, palaces and attractions for all ages, parks and gardens, restaurants (with the unique Piemontese cuisine) and bars etc etc. Its image as an industrial city is misguided - this was the capital of Savoy for centuries. This hotel is really close to the Porta Susa Station (also an airport bus stop), its main advantage; a pleasant stroll to the very centre of Turin, but trams and buses are also nearby. Very comfortable room, quiet, all amenities excellent, free wifi, decent breakfast (for Italy!), good price, Recommended to anyone for a short or long stay. « less
