I need to stay on the south side of Boston at least once a month and have stayed at several spots in Braintree as well as 3 locations in the Rockland/Hingham area. For value, comfort and amenities, the Best Western in Rockland is the spot of choice for me.
The value and price of the rooms can't be beat, given the comfort, cleanliness and helpfulness/friendliness of the staff. There is no on location restaurant or room service, but the rooms are spacious, always clean with comfortable beds, free internet, TV & desks. They offer the typical self serve breakfast buffet as well. « less

I had , before I left for Boston from Chennai (India ) , booked this hotel 'online'. I admit that the booking was done in a haste ( without doing proper research ) & since the deal was good ( $ 130 per night ) , I promptly booked it & paid online. I was traveling to meet my son who is sttudying for his MS in Boston.
Me and my friend came into Boston by bus from New York.& as soon as we came out of the bus station , we hailed a cab. On telling him that we want to go to Best Western Rockland , he gave us a quizical look and after a little reluctance agreed to take us there.
Soon we understood the quizical look on his face. This Resort type hotel was about 40 kms ( 25 miles ) from Boylston Street where my son lives !! It took us approximately 40 minutes to reach there. Best Western Rockland at Hingham Street !!!
We checked in & the things that impressed us the most was the courteous & helpful staff / large bed rooms & bathrooms ( Complimentary toiletries & Hair Dryer ) which were neat . There are ample free parking space. The hotel offers free wi-fi internet service , Laundry facilities ( every room has an Ironing board ) & not to forget the sumptious complimentary breakfast .There is a large shopping arcade opposite this hotel where I had the most delicious "Papparoni Pizza "from an Italian restaurant by the name "DINA's PIZZAS " ( Highly reccomended ).It was an excellent stay , but for the distance from Boston City.
The nearest train station is Braintree ( approx 16 kms from the Hotel ) You need to take the Red Line train and get off at Park Street Station from there hop on to a Green Line station to Prudential Center ( 2nd stop after Copley Station )
Given an opportunity , I will certainly go back there along with my family for a quiet retreat . But this time , I will ensure that I have my own transport. « less

We stay at the Rockland Best Western several times a year. We like the waffles and the friendly staff. This stay, the reading lamp was unplugged and there wasn't an outllet in the corner of the room where the lamp and chair were located. No big deal but we informed the front desk on our check out and the A/M was shocked that that situation happened.. We look forward to our next stay. « less

I like the clean, comfortable bed[I have back problems] and the not so bad breakfast[being a vegetarian, I have enough to break my fast] I like the most is the fitness room which is completely untapped! I feel like I have my own exercise bike everyday, since most business travelers stay away from fitness room. The only con is to reach to your rooms if you have a closer rooms to the lobby. Being a business traveler, I negotiated a comfortable room to suit to my needs. « less
