Stayed here for 2 nights with my FI when we had to come up to RI to get our marriage license. Wanted to try one of the "newport area" hotels in the off-season. We stayed in the older section, had a king sized bed with an ocean view.
Thoughts on hotel: The room was small, but had a fridge, which was a nice touch. The bed linens were very nice, comforter was good, and my FI thought the bed was super comfortable. Toilet was omg scary loud when it flushes...no seriously, you'll think its about to launch into space! The ocean front rooms have to deal with constant traffic noise from the Very Busy main road right in front of the hotel. And in summer it is busy at all times, so just a word of warning. The main part of the hotel is very small....and the front entry way doors which are automatic doors, make the biggest racket I have ever when they open and close. Management, if you read this, replace/fix those doors! The sound is atrocious and made me wonder what else was breaking down and not being fixed in the hotel... For the couple who said there was no elevator...there is, but it is not very well marked. The stairs are steep and narrow and neverending...do not recommend taking them unless you are deliberately seeking a workout.
Beach across the way is very nice, watch out for red tide in the summer. Hotel is close to a nice assortment of restaurants, covers all price points. In the summer, try the world famous lobster rolls at the beach food shack...best tasting with a great price!!
Overall, this hotel was just ok. It suited our purposes and we got the off-season rate. I enjoyed being so close to the beach. But if I had paid the full-price summer rate I would have been seriously pissed off.... The rooms were very very tiny and the hotel itself doesn't have lots of charm or amenities. The hotel needs some updating on exterior features, and better sound-proofed windows for rooms near the heavily traveled roads...which are probably all of the rooms. I never did find the pool, hot tub, rooftop anything, or any of the other amenities and features of this hotel...staff never mentioned it or pointed out how to get to any of the facilities and I don't remember seeing any signs. Overall just ok. I enjoyed my stay but was expecting better. « less

I never know what to think when I pour over the reviews. They often have me worried, but we chose well. Tips: book directly from hotel's website or call, know that the historic building has smaller rooms but better views, book a spa service while you're there! If you stay in the historic building you will need to walk across the parking lot to the indoor pool, but an elevator is provided. Being across the street from Easton's beach is very convenient.
Amazing view from our room facing the beach, suite had two equally sized rooms each with a king bed, each had large tv and microwave/fridge combo that was an added bonus. My husband surprised me with a massage and foot treatment with Laurie Ann. She was exceptionally talented and courteous -highly recommend! « less

Checked in at the front desk and headed for the 3rd floor. Passing down several angled halls we found an arrow directing us up a steep staircase Dragging our luggage we proceded up 14 narrow steps. Wife growing weary with each step remarked, "Where is the elevator?" There was none for us seniors(70's) hotwire guests. Down a narrow passage way we found a door which looked very much like a broom closet. No, "voila" our room! On entering it was indeed a broom closet or at least used to be. On entering the dimly lit room was very small indeed with barely enough space to pass between bed and furniture. A tv planted atop a worn bureau and a bed poorly made or worse recently slept in. A small window looked out at the roof top and a large ugly wall. No scenic view of Easton's Beach here. Only two large ugly domed roof vents belching 31/2 star fumes from the boutuique basement far below. The bath room door beckoned me, but I did not wish to go there. Only thing missing in this room was a wet mop in the corner. Meanwhile, the wife yelled "I'm outa here " and headed for the 14 steps. Back at the front desk the clerk was not surprised to see us again. "Another room maybe?" Back up on the 3rd floor again the next room was only slightly larger but the view was even worse.Returning to the front desk again the clerk was waiting and ready for the final act of bait and switch, and smiled saying "Would you consider an upgrade?" Baited and switched we paid $$ more for a room we had already paid for and took what we could to save the weekend. Lesson learned: Expect poor treatment and bad rooms from Hotwire and this hotel and no consideration for senior citizens. « less

We stayed in a huge suite for a two-night family getaway. There were two bedrooms (each with a king), two full baths (with huge glassed in showers and one with a whirlpool tub), a kitchen complete with oven/stove/micro/dishwasher/toaster oven, and a living room with flat screen TV. It was a snowy weekend and we enjoyed watching DVD's, playing card games, shopping in downtown Newport, and enjoying the St. Patrick's Day festivities. This hotel is walking distance from Easton's Beach and Cliff Walk. We would never be able to afford it during the summer, but it's definitely worth a stay during the off season. « less
