This hotel is out by the Hercules monument--it shares a great view of the entire region as well as being in a great, relaxing area. The staff was helpful, the rooms were nice--and they gave you a little Schlosshotel "duck" when you checked in. I would stay there again--and Kassel has a lot to see, do and shop!!! Great city, Great hotel!! « less

We stopped in while touring Germany between two business events - want to visit the palace next day. Food was quite nice for dinner and breakfast; liked the look of the bar but didn't use it. Front desk people were great.
The best rooms, just renovated, are on the two lower floors facing the valley - nice nice view. But the wifi routers are for some reason on the TOP floor, so the signal simply didn't work on the bottom floor (walkout to garden) and was weak one floor up. But even in the lobby it kept disconnecting, disconnecting, disconnecting.
For some people this wouldn't be a problem; for me it was crippling. Staff said they'd never had a problem report on it. Oh well.
Value was much better at a consolidator site than walk-in. « less

Much of our bad feelings about Schlosshotel Wilhelmshoehe come back to the front desk staffmember who we dealt with when we checked in and later on. One, the room he allocated to us was one that really only should be used as a last resort, when all else is full. It was a the back near the kitchens and when we returned to the hotel having been out for a few hours, the smell of frying was filling the room. After we complained, we were given another room at the front, and there were plenty of vacancies so there was no reason to have given us the one that we had. Two, the same man on reception gave us the wrong information about when trams left to the centre of the city, when we were first heading out in the afternoon. Three, when we checked in, he did not give us the transport tickets that were part of our package. Nor was I given them when I asked about tram times, when it was clear that we were going to use public transport. We only checked our package details later in the day – when we were about to complain about our first room and were checking our paperwork to see what type of room we’d booked (which was months earlier). By then we’d already bought tram tickets to come and go from the centre of town. The man on the desk argued that we hadn’t specifically asked for them, but he knew we were going to use the tram and therefore needed tickets, and in any other hotel where I’ve had such package entitlements, they are automatically handed over. At least because we’d had to make that unnecessary expenditure, the second room we were allocated was an upgrade. The rooms were well maintained but the style was too old-fashioned for our taste. We had thought this looked like a good place to stay when we were in Kassel for Documenta 12, five years earlier, when some parts of the exhibition were on at the schloss across the road. Unfortunately, this time nothing was on show there and so we had two days of coming and going into town. That’s not the hotel’s fault, of course. But it was strange that there were no Documenta 13 maps in the information racks at the Schosshotel. It would have been very useful when we were first setting out. The schloss gardens are lovely to walk around, so that's a bonus of being here, outside what is otherwise a fairly dull city. Sitting outside in the sunshine to have breakfast was very pleasant – much more than the outside seating at other hotels we’ve seen in Kassel. Plus we had a verandah in our (upgraded) room. But we’ll be looking for another option when Documenta 14 rolls around. « less

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel with afriend. I was misled by the hotel name into thinking that the hotel was converted from a palace.I was disappointed initially. However, the hotel was located close to the palace & its park. I went for long walks in the huge park around the hotel in the am & evening. The hotel is located in the midst of greenery & I could hear birds chirping in the morning. The food served in the hotel restaurant tastes good too. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"It was great. We had searched for rooms on our own and were unsuccessful. Thank you for a spectacular service!" H.B. - Long Island, NY
"When people provide customer friendly service in today’s world, it should be applauded! So many businesses have taken almost and adversarial attitude towards the customer, in other words, they over compensate for a consumer not following through. As a business, it is my understanding, that the business should always follow through and do as they promise! Loyalty between consumers and businesses should remain alive, profit above service is a bad plan and will cost the business in the long run!" R.F. - Denver, CO
