...obviously the hotel was overbooked and they put us to the penthouse suite worth 1500 USD a night, as they told us. For a price of a standard room?! Hello, where' s the twist?! Well, after two days the accesss to the room was denied, went down to the desk where they tried to convince me something was wrong with my credit card for the second time, so I gave the details of my credit card again (they got the details for the fourth time by now). The first time it happened was less than one day before our flight to NY and a week after we had received the booking confirmation. How come? Did they try to sell the room twice? Could we have wound up stranded on the street when we arrived to NY? Never before and never after had I had a slightest problem with that particular credit card. Now that everything with the credit card was OK, the management wanted to move us to another room and we said, NO! If the suite worth 1500 USD a night stinks of sewage from time to time, and blinds are broken, and the bathroom is so tiny you have to close the door if you want to get to the basin, and if there' s times when the water is only ice cold in the shower, then what are the standard rooms like?! NO ONE IS GONNA MOVE US AROUND EVERY TWO DAYS! IT IS NOT OUR FAULT AT THE END OF THE DAY, YOU KNOW? So we stayed 11 nights in that suite and all staff was friendly apart from the management. Special credit and compliments go to Mrs. Jelena who took care of our room very well. The room was always cleaned up perfectly, the sheets and towels were changed every day, no problem with the additional toiletries, etc. She was very helpful and always tried hard and got us what we asked for, even if it was late. The first thing that needs to be overhauled in this hotel is the management. I am sure when this happens all the rest in this hotel will soon be proper renovated, as well. « less

Remember it easy to get around in NY (subway or walking) so staying so close to Times Square is maybe not so important. « less

We booked this hotel because of its location in Times Square & the room price. We had a brief stopover in NY arriving 12mn leaving 4pm. This is a strangely decorated hotel!! The reception & bar area reminded me of Alice in Wonderland! We had a large room with seating area (room 1214) & the biggest bathroom we have ever had in NY!! The beds were comfortable & the room was clean (there was only shampoo & a small soap but there was a sign to say you could ask for toiletries if needed). We found all the staff friendly but there is definitely something lacking with this hotel. If like us you are just looking for somewhere to sleep & the price is right fine otherwise I agree with other reviewers its not the most inviting place. I can however recommend the Irish Bar Hurley's next door which is open till 2am. In the few hours we were in NY we walked the High Line, visited The Chelsea Market & had a drink in the roof top bar of the Celtic Playwright in Times Square on the corner of 45th & 8th Streets all of which I can recommend especially The Highline. « less

We were in a double room and it literally was a double bed with a very very small bathroom. It was in a great location only 1 minute walk to times square.
