Nice location for visiting Richmond Shockoe Bottom and the Canal Walk. Richmond has lots of history and having a nice place to stay in the Center of the City is a good plus. Very easy walk to the State Capitol as well. Hotel is older, but still managing to keep up with the lastest needs. I became a preferred guest and got my internet access for free and free Starbucks coffee each day as well. Parking is expensive, so I opted for street parking and across the street is a parking garage for 1/2 the cost of parking in the hotel underground parking. However, if you going in and out alot, the hotel parking would be a better deal. Loved the feather pillows. « less

My wife and I decided to go to Richmond at the last minute. I booked a room on the Omni website and got a great rate. The location is perfect for dining and sightseeing. We had to switch rooms - the guy that checked us in assured me that the first room was nice and it wasn't as it was on a former smoking floor overlooking the HVAC units!! The bellman assisted in getting us on the 11th floor with an okay view. The room was clean; everything was functional; and was very quiet for a city room. The only problem was some loud, rude neighbors. All of the staff members were friendly and attentive. Would definitely stay here again. « less

I planned an overnight trip with my kids to Richmond so that we could see the Capital area. Omni staff was wonderfully helpful. Their shuttle bus made getting around super easy.
I chose to park in the hotel parking lot because we had a lot of valuables with us. This worked out great for us. The Omni staff allowed us to keep our car in the garage until the end of the day even though we had already checked-out. They were also happy to let us continue to use the shuttle for the day. There is a public garage across the street that would be less expensive, but I found the hotel garage to be very convenient.
The room was clean and comfortable. The pool felt like a hot tub (which the kids and I loved). The location was very convenient to much of what we wanted to see. We were surprised at how deserted downtown Richmond felt by 6pm. However, we enjoyed the restaurant we chose for dinner and our short walk back to the hotel (we could have had the shuttle retrieve us). We used their on-demand movies to watch a movie for the evening. All of the staff was wonderful about making our quick trip comfortable and meaningful. The shuttle drivers told us about sites along our journey and were always prompt picking us up. The front desk staff helped us arrange special activities such as the Easter Egg Hunt at the Governor's mansion. It worked out perfectly for us.
I would return to this hotel for any type of downtown event. « less

We stayed at the Omni for a wedding weekend. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Richmond. Its a very quick and easy walk to the action down on 17th street. The 17th Street Farmers Market is great and the restaurants and bars that surround were really wonderful too. The Omni staff were amazing and helpful. Espcially, Cherita who kindly chatted with us in the lobby during Champagne Happy Hour on Friday afternoon. Yes, you read that corectly the hotel hosts a Champagne Happy Hour every friday afternoon. We had a ball. There is a Starbucks and an Italian restaurant in the lobby as well, if Champagne isnt your style. My friends and I frequented the pool and sun deck on Saturday all day. The sun deck was outfitted very simply, but it did the job. My only criticisms are that our room smelled moldy because the bathroom has no fan or ventilation. The shower is steamy that the bathroom gets very wet. Without proper ventilation the room gets a moldy smell. Also, the cleaning staff did not clean our room on Saturday. We had seen them in the hall, but they skipped our room. We had to call down stairs and ask to have housekeeping come up. It was annoying, but housekeeping did eventually come and everything was fine. In conclusion, if you are headed to the Richmond area and you need a standard hotel with a great location I would highly suggest The Omni its great. « less
