We had just a terrible experience at the Georgian Terrace. For a hotel that bills itself as a "modern, historic" hotel, we found nothing about this place modern or historic. Old does not necessarily mean historic. And my grandmother's place (she passed away in 1990) was more modern.
Our stay started off poorly from the get go, when we realized that one of the two elevators was shut down so it could be "modernized." The other elevator was working intermittently. Just what you want to hear before you get on. They were trying to alleviate the delays by allowing guests to use the service elevator as well. But the line for that elevator had (no lie) over 20 people waiting for it in a small, hot hallway.
We eventually made it up to our 2bd/1ba suite, and we walked into what felt like a time warp back to 1977. Everything just felt musty and old. There was a full kitchen, with appliances I hadn't seen in many a year. But the real joke there is that every cupboard and drawer was bare. What's the point in having kitchenettes if you're not going to supply any pots, pans, utensils, glasses, etc? Not even a glass to drink out of!? Good thing there was a plastic cup in the bathroom for my nightcap. There apparently used to be a minibar in the room. But now all that is left is a rickety cabinet with a broken plastic lock. They didn't even bother to remove the plastic lock when they took out the goods.
The bathroom was just as old. The exhaust fan was so loud that when it was on, you couldn't hear the TV in the living room. And since the fan is connected to the overhead light, you needed to have the fan on if you're in the bathroom.
We unpacked, and wanted to take our baby for a walk around town. After waiting 20 minutes for an elevator to come get us, we finally decided to walk down the six flights of stairs with our baby and a stroller. Not very easy. I raised a stink when we got back to the lobby, saying they might want to rethink saying the elevator was working again. Clearly, it was not. One of the bellman barked back at me (and continued to give me the stink eye for the rest of our stay).
When it was time to check out we, again, had elevator problems. Since there was only one working, it was full every time one opened for us to go down. Finally, we wised up and took the "up" elevator to the top floor and rode it back down. It was the only way to ensure we could fit onto one.
After we had checked out, my wife waited for the car as I visited Mim's to grab two cups of coffee. The wait was excruciating as one guy makes each cup, painstakingly slowly; as if we were all ordering slow drip specials. After I started to complain (when numerous people that ordered after me were getting their coffee), the barrista said to me "What's the problem? You have your coffee." As if it were preposterous that I might have ordered and paid for two cups of coffee! This was the 2nd time during a one night stay, I was met with aggression from the staff.
Lastly, I'd be remissed if I didn't mention that all of the staff was not this unprofessional. We did receive exceptional service from Tareq at the valet (all of the valets were really friendly and professional), Dane at check-in and Edward from room service. This is the service I was hoping to see with this stay. I just wish it wasn't the only thing we enjoyed about the Georgian Terrace. We will not be back. « less

Quality Poor Facilities Poor Service Good My two (2) night stay was not as I expected for the $110 rate paid per night.
The "modernization" of the elevators, left one elevator operating. The 20-minute wait for an empty car either direction was a hassle; but as I soon discovered, this inconvenience was the least of my concerns.
My two (2) room suite was uncomfortable for several reasons: bunched up carpeting in the rooms and hallways (needs stretching), the furniture upholstery was tattered, the woodwork was marred and dirty, the faucets malfunctioning (water spraying and leaking from faucet handle), the bed springs were broken down and sagging.
My stay was unpleasant, to say the least, having to smell and breath constant cigarette smoke coming from a neighboring room, in a strictly "Non-Smoking hotel". I reported the incidences, but to no avail, the smoking continued and permeated the hallway and our hotel suite. The manager stated that they had security address the smoking guest; however, the chain smoking continued throughout our stay.
The room service was pleasant and hospitable. The food was good but not ideal. The sliced melon was unripened and flavorless, blueberries moldy and rotten. The cream was at best, skim milk. The croissant was day old and blueberry muffin was Betty Crocker mix with no blueberries.
Granted, I wasn't expecting a Westin hotel experience, but I was expecting a stay better than a Best Western Motel and/or a Day's Inn.
I would not recommend staying at this hotel, unless the rate dropped to $39 a night. « less

We were attending a show at the Fox Theatre across the street. We decided to stay overnight in lieu of driving back and forth on a very rainy weekend. We arrived at what was probably prime check in time. The valet parking was backed up into the street but it moved fast. The same with the check in process. Then we experienced the same elevator problem as others. Only one main elevator was in service and it took forever for it to arrive at the lobby. Of course since there was such a backup at check in, there were many people cramming into the elevator and it stopped at every floor on the way up. We requested a room away from the elevator and a view of the Fox Theatre. That is what we got. The door was kind of hard to open. I think the handle was bad. But once in the room all was good. The room was clean. The view was as requested. The bathroom was very large and everything was clean. The only problem with facing the main road was the noise. A lot of emergency vehicles travel the road due to the Hospital being nearby. And horns from vehicles were easily heard, even up on the eighth floor. The heater kept a good temperature in the room, but it cycled on and off very often for short periods of time and was a little noisy. We had breakfast scheduled for room delivery between 8:30 and 9:00. An emergency vehicle woke us at 7:30. I called room service to push the breakfast up in time. They were happy to oblige. The food arrived quickly and was actually very tasty. A 22% gratuity is added automatically as is a 3.50 delivery charge. But the convenience was worthwhile on this particular day. All in all, the place is immaculate, the staff is courteous and helpful, and if you are attending a show at the Fox, the location can't be beat. « less
