About mid-April 2013, my husband and I flew from Australia with our 2.5 year old daughter to visit family for the first time since having moved to Australia. It was our first US trip with our little one so we wanted to break up the flights and we opted to stay 2 nights here to take her to Disneyland.
Arriving at around 7 AM after a 14 hour flight and all of us jetlagged, we really wanted a place to just offload our luggage. Initially the receptionist wasn't going to give us a room so early and we couldn't blame her as it was about 9:45 AM when we arrived at the hotel and their check in wasn't until 3 PM. But she took mercy on us, warned us that construction was going on during the day and we happily got into a room much earlier than expected.
We intended on offloading, freshening up then heading out to Disneyland but we were all soooo tired that we all passed out and all the pounding didn't bother us one bit. In fact most of the time it was rather rhythmic. We still made it out to Disneyland much later in the afternoon which actually worked out well as there were hardly any crowds and we got to enjoy the night lights.
The hotel was still undergoing renovations at the time we went so reception was tucked into what looked like a room that was converted into an office, no pool yet, and the hallways were still unfinished. But the room we were in was done and it was lovely. We like the floorboards as it felt cleaner than if we were on carpet but it had a bit of a hollow sound to it. Bed was comfortable and we like firmer beds. No problem with the air con, in fact it was quite cold sometimes! You can hear doors closing but it didn't bother us much as we were always so tired.
The bathroom, although lovely, does have some annoying quirks. The shower water pressure was miserable and we ended up using the handheld rather than the shower head but it was only marginally better. But the shower was nice, clean, and big. The sink needs a bar soap holder of some sort and as many others mentioned, the faucet is barely half an inch over the circular sink so not only was it difficult to use as you're holding your hand or cup, etc. very close to the side of the sink to get under the water but it also resulted in water splashing over all the time. We had to keep towels around the edge of the sink to keep the water at bay.
Breakfast was simple but had sweet and savoury options depending on your preference. The cinnamon rolls were definitely a hit with us. We never had a problem finding a table to sit at and we usually arrived closer to the end of the serving time.
We found the lack of a small circular table or something similar made it difficult to eat when we brought meals back to the hotel. But aside from that, we purposely picked this hotel due to its proximity to Disneyland and the fact that it was being entirely renovated and would be basically new and clean. Many of the surrounding hotels/motels are very old or right in the thick of foot traffic. This one was close enough that we could walk to it with our stroller and it was still quiet because there wasn't a constant crowd of people walking by it.
There's a small shopping strip just around the corner as you head towards Disneyland with some eateries so convenient for simple meals. There are larger chains between the walk from the hotel and Disneyland so there's no shortage of food, just not fine dining, mainly fast food or restaurant chains. There's also a 7 Eleven along the way too.
Both nights we stayed to 9pm and 10pm and didn't feel unsafe walking back to the hotel. There were always people and cars along the way so you never felt isolated. We did have a rental and it was easy to park in the parking garage under the hotel. However, we didn't need to use the car the whole time we were here for Disneyland.
Despite the negatives, it was still a nice place to stay and we would again in the future. « less

My partner and I traveled to the Anaheim Holiday Inn Express for seven days in April. There was a ton of construction all around the building as they are upgrading their whole pool area and main entrance. Despite the initial appearance of the building, our entire experience was fantastic. The front desk staff was phenomenal with helping out with anything we needed and they were super friendly. Our room was beautifully recently renovated - definitely the most beautiful room i've had at the Holiday Inn, and way better than similar hotels like best western ect. Hardwood floor, great artwork and a comfortable bed. In walking distance to tons of great restaurants, a shopping square, and Disneyland! I will never stay anywhere else in Anaheim! Great experience. « less

This Holiday Inn Express is being remodel and the rooms are fantastic. This summer it will have a new name but can not remember what that name will be. My noise issue did not come from the construction but with the closing of the room doors. It was exceptionally loud!! Every day by 7:00am it started. The doors of course are all self closing but they slam shut. I personally never let the door slam shut, in any hotel, because I know they are loud and can bother other people. But here it was worse. House keeeping was the worse offenders as they go in and out of rooms several times. The staff was extremely nice, helpful, and professional. The rooms are very nice and of course new. The breakfast buffet was the same wonderful buffet as at any Holiday Inn Express. RIGHT next door to Anaheim City Walk and not too far a walk to the park. So, if your and up and out early type I would recommend this hotel. However, if you even want to sleep to as late as 9:00am forget it; you won't be able to sleep through the door shutting noise. « less

We came upon this hotel driving around after having to leave our originally booked hotel due to bugs. The front desk was very helpful, told us they were under construction and then let us look at the room. The room was newly renovated and very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and even though there was construction going on we really were never bothered by any of it. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the bathroom sink faucet does not go far enough into the sink and leaves water all over the counter but otherwise the bathroom is beautiful. The breakfast was good and the breakfast area is definitely temporary so can be a bit crowded at times but the food selection was good and with a family of 5 a good money saver. The pool was closed but we did have access to the one next door and the parking was free. It is a 10-15 minute walk to Disney with several different types of food options along the way.All in all a great experience. « less

We booked very last minute for the is hotel and was a little disppointed with the construction but it was better than the hotel we were at. The staff was really friendly and the breakfast was good. There was alot of noise from the people walking above you onthe nex floor and the location was walking distance. It was after I left that was disappointing. My credit card was charged $200 and there was $180 hold on the card for a week. When calling the hotel I was told there was a desk lamp missing from the room so I was charged the $200. I had so much kid stuff on the desk that I didn't even notice a lamp. They will not reverse the charge and they told me to dispute it with my credit card company so now I am having to go out of my way to reverse the charges. Lesson learned make a manager go up to your room and do the inspection before you leave. « less
