My sister and I booked in to Grotta Antica in the beginning of May. We found ourselves in the midst of Calendimaggio. The traditional annual spring festival. Grottta Antics is very close to the centre of town where it all takes place. Our room was on the ground floor and was small but spotless. It was extremely convenient to the piazza del commune but very quiet. Will return. « less

We were fortunate to find shelter for 2 days and three nights in Assisi after fiddling around with places to stay. As others have said, the rooms are basic. We had a problem with the shower drain in that it would not drain. This became a bigger problem as it was connected to the rest of the bathroom; no separate enclosure, just a curtain. Therefore, the water continued on into the rest of the bathroom. We should have reported it, but we were off and about most of the day. We stayed clean, but took shorter showers. Though we were above the restaurant, we did have pleasant nights of sleep. We parked outside of Assisi in a free parking lot. Our car was fine there. The price was right and, like Francis, we were taken in and treated well. « less

We had a very pleasant two night stay. Nice simple accommodations. Family managed and were delightful. Excellent evening meals, homey atmosphere like eating in local home. Manager family dined in table next to Ours. Very reasonable and good location. Difficult to find. It would be helpful to identify Piazza Del Comune and Chesa Nuova as landmarks on web page. « less

We stumbled across Grotta Antica after several other choices were already booked. We were welcomed as part of the family and all of our needs were well taken care of. Nadia is a sweetheart and even though she doesn't speak English it's pretty easy to communicate with her. Other members of the family do speak English. The rooms are basic but clean and functional. The hotel is just around the corner from Piazza del Comune in the center of town. Parking is additional but they have a contract with the parking garage so it's discounted. « less
