Stayed at the Sheraton last October. I loved the hotel setting, its very relaxing and different from what i'm used to (in a good way). Location is very nice and quiet, perfect for a weekend getaway. Food was excellent and staff were very nice however they struggled with their English. On the whole it was a nice experience and would love to back with family. « less

about an hours drive out of Madrid, this hotel is set in/around a still occupied monastery. peaceful, with excellently appointed rooms, friendly staff, brilliant food & service. buffet breakfast including hot and cold dishes, fruits, breads, pastries....the list goes on :) the pool area (and surrounding grassy areas) is very well kept - with complimentary loungers & towels available all day. walking distance into the small town. across the road from the hotel is a huge natural park area with a natural lake to swim ion, if the mood takes you. i thoroughly recommend this hotel. « less

I stayed here in Feb/March 12 taking part in a language programme. The staff are very helpful and most speak a smattering of English. There are numberous large and comfortable reception rooms, one with a grand piano and a bar. The restaurant is well furnished, nothing is too much trouble for the Maitre D and the food superb. Rooms can vary in size from a suite - huge to very small - cell like (well it was originally a monastry). The best thing were the pillows - I have never had them so comfortable. Hire a bike and ride into the village on a cycle path. Walk in the national park. Surrounded by mountains. Quite busy on a Sunday - it appears to be a meeting place for families from Madrid. The whole experience was excellent. Stayed there for a 6 days. « less

As most of my family is spreaded around South Spain, France and UK, we decided to meet all in el Paular for 3 days to celebrate Mum´s Birthday and everything runned above expectations! Initial impression was disapointing due to roof works in the Monastery but no noises were suffered during the stay. Location is perfect for hiking and cycling; however, food is great and staff is awesome! Weather was not that good and George recommended several daytrip excursions that were great! Oskar (the pool lifeguard) was extremely attentive with our kids. « less
