The first thing I notice when I opened the door was the thread-bare carpeting. I walked in further and noticed that the dresser and nightstand looked like they had been there since the place opened. They were broken and badly banged up. Next I walked over to the nightstand and promptly noticed a chewed up piece of gum had been left there which automatically made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the room. Went to bed and realized that the mattress had probably been there since the day they opened...very bad. The only thing good about this room we were in was the view. This was the first time staying at a Wingate and it's my last. « less

I feel that we should get some type of refund since we did not get full service of the property. We were staying there because of our daughter's surgery at UAB. Not having hot water added to the stress of the stay « less

Went to Birmingham for a weekend getaway and decided to stay at this Wingate, it was close to the event we were attending and shopping. When we arrived we checked and left without going to our room. We arrived back late that night and exhausted from a very long day, we unpacked and when I sat on the bed to plug an electoral device in to the wall the bed flew up and I fell into the air conditioner unit. THE BED WAS BROKEN!!!! I tried to call the front desk but the phone did not work. I went down stairs and was given a new room, keep in mind this was 11:00 at night and we had to repack and move rooms.
Room #2 was NASTY!!!! There was big nasty stains on the carpet and the furniture looked like it had not been replaced in years. The beds felt like you were trying to sleep on slabs.
I went to the front desk several trying to talk to someone in charge and no one would accept and responsibility for anything. I was told the owner would call. I have yet to receive a call. There is no General Manager.
I recommend Hampton Inn, you always know what kind to expect. « less
