I have stayed at this hotel before and liked it so I figured I would stay with a good thing. Once again the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. It pays to be a rewards member as I received free drink coupons. The only small glitch was when we got to our room we noticed there were some ants in the restroom area. When I called the front desk they were very helpful and immediately moved us to another room across the hall and it was ant-free and they also comp'd us a free breakfast. Which was nice and quite good. After that everything went smoothly.
The location is central in Austin and close to everything. We have figured out how to avoid I35 and were able to take the back roads around the area for ease of travel.
All in all a very good stay, we would definitely stay there again during future visits. « less

Additional - a young manager, named Zack, was there when I checked in the evening. The next morning early he was setting silverware in the breakfast area - hands on - great. « less

I was town to attend a seminar at the University of Texas (Austin). It was a bit difficult to locate the hotel entrance at rush hour, and I in fact missed it the first time while concentrating on traffic and my GPS. I took the turnaround on the service road and spotted the Marriott sign by the Captain Benny seafood restaurant on my second pass. The front desk is staffed by the friendliest people you will encounter in Austin, including several students from England and a bloke from San Antonio!!!! The next morning I took side roads to the University of Texas and found that I could get there very quickly and effortlessly (tried to avoid gridlock bound I-35), or in less than 10 minutes.
It was an interesting week. The boiler apparently failed one morning and there was no hot water (bringing back memories of freshman dorm showers). A water main broke the next day, with a water plume shooting several feet in the air (visible from I-35). GM Zack Burns joked that it was a new Vegas type water fountain!!! Despite these problems, which no one could predict, I would stay there again. It is convenient to the UTA Thompson Conference Center and readily accessible to many restaurants and shopping, once traffic lets up. I also found the staff, from the top to the bottom, to be as friendly and helpful as you could expect. I am hoping for less excitement during my next stay!!!! « less

My wife and I stayed at this Courtyard location recently. The hotel is conveniently located in IH-35, so getting around Austin is exceptionally easy... BUT it is a real trick to find the "entrance" to this property off of the interstate access road. Tiny little sign, just past the gas station and shrimp restaurant... hard for me to find when I arrived late at night.
Rooms were roomy and clean. Beds comfortable. Sink and vanity located outside of bathroom so two could get ready in the morning conveniently. Didn't sample the breakfast but seemed good to those who did. Free WiFi! (I still don't know why the more expensive "fancy" hotels don't follow that policy.)
I don't know if it was because I am a Marriott Rewards participant (free and highly recommended) but we were offered coupons at check-in for free bottle of water and beer or wine. Nice! We needed a beer right about then. Ha!
Simply exceptional customer service, from ALL staff. The desk manager (I'm guessing) went way out of her way the entire stay to be friendly and helpful. This is clearly something the hotel reinforces and it means the world to me. Traveling can often be tiring or difficult. Meeting people like the staff at this Courtyard who work to help you enjoy your stay to the maximum make for happy, returning customers. « less
