Location. The Westin Sydney is on Martin Place in the city's central business district. Surrounded by upscale shops, theaters and nightlife, the hotel is two kilometers from the Sydney Opera House, Circulay Quay and Darling Harbour.
Hotel Features. Representing the present and the past, The Westin Sydney is part of the redevelopment of the historic General Post Office built in 1887. The ultra modern lobby offers contrasts in dark and light and a large, blue hued mural on the upper walls. The hotel is a combination of the modern Tower Wing and the restored General Post Office, or Heritage, Wing. The Heritage Conference Center includes eight meeting rooms, two ballrooms, and a business center. Mosaic Restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine under natural light provided by a large glass atrium skylight. The Bar and The Lounge serves light fare, cocktails and afternoon tea. The hotel health club includes an indoor pool, steam rooms, a fitness facility, yoga and aerobics classes and massage.
Guestrooms. The Westin Sydney has 416 guestrooms on 31 floors, with most rooms in the modern Tower Wing. Tower rooms include floor to ceiling windows and a décor of gleaming stainless steel, aquamarine glass and neutral fabrics. Heritage rooms offer high ceilings, antique window treatments and a classic décor style. Amenities include Westin's signature Heavenly Beds with thick mattresses, all white bedding and down blankets. Rooms also include high speed Internet access, CD and DVD players and direct dial phones. All rooms are nonsmoking.
Expert Tip. The Sydney Explorer Bus offers a great way for travelers to orient themselves in Sydney. The buses operate at 18 minute intervals from early morning to early evening and stop at about 25 attractions during their one and one half hour circuits. Tickets cost US$28 for adults and US$14 for children from four years of age to 16 years of age.
