It isn't new and shows its wear and tear in places but the hotel is very clean. The staff are very helpful and professional. The happy hour and included continental breakfast are very nice touches considering how expensive South Beach can be. The only complaint we had was that the bed was a little on the hard side for our liking. I gave it a 5 out of 5 but would have really liked to give it about a 4.5 because of the bed. « less

I have stayed in some hideous hotels in South Beach but walking into the Edgewater was a breathe of fresh air. It is right, smack bang in the middle of bustling south beach but as soon as you walk inside it's a whole different world. The location is fantastic, across the road from the beach and a stone throw away from all the shops, restaurants, etc. in South Beach. The room are lovely. My only minor criticism would be that the lighting in the room was more for ambience than doing your make-up. But the room was huge, clean, with a kitchenette (a very nice bonus to come across).
The staff were amazing. All of them were friendly, approachable and super helpful. By the end of the stay they knew us by name and we had little chats as we walked in and out.
Breakfast is simple but exactly what you want if you're going to be in a bikini at the beach. Continental, self-service - quick and easy and on the rooftop terrace so you can enjoy the sun.
Happy hour was the icing on the cake. You could sit on the rooftop terrace and watch the sun go down with a beer or glass of wine. It's a great way to unwind after a hectic day of tanning, shopping and eating and it give you the chance to meet other hotel guests and see what restaurant / bar /club they recommend for the evening ahead.

I've stayed at the Edgewater a few times and it seems to get better every time! The service is outstanding, as opposed to the clingy, disingenuous service that one often finds in the States all of the staff at the Edgewater are incredibly helpful, very considerate and just down right groovy -and I don't use the term groovy lightly. The rooms are great - clean, spacious, comfortable, they even have little kitchenettes. The location is fantastic, you are right on the beach. The beauty of this hotel is that it's not in the thick of things. You are a 30 second walk away from the hustle and bustle of the crazy South Beach scene but you've got space to breath and its just far enough away that if you would like you can get that peace and quiet that you sometimes crave on holiday. The hotel's right next door to Starbucks so your morning coffee - check! Shopping is just around the corner - check! Restaurants galore - check! (although I advise you venture away from the main streets for food as the restaurants on Ocean Dr. and Loncoln can be pretty poor, quality wise). To conclude my tender little rant, the service is superb, the location couldn't be better and the happy hour on the roof is the cherry on top of the already delicious sundae that is this hotel. « less

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for two days in March of 2013 with my daughter. I knew nothing about this hotel prior to staying here. What a wonderful experience! The staff, especially Jonathan, Ken and all the others whose names I can't remember provided some of the best customer service that I have ever had (I've been a Customer Service Manager for many years and I'm picky!). First - this hotel offers all that you need to make your stay enjoyable (excellent concierge service, ATM in hotel, workout room, complimentary breakfast on the rooftop overlooking the ocean, spacious, unique and extremely comfortable rooms, the decor was very well done, 2 minute walk to the beach, located right in the center of the excitement of South Beach...I could go on an on....The staff (from the front desk to housekeeping) was gracious, friendly and accommodating to all the guests that I saw first hand including myself. To the hotel owners - these are the folks you want mentoring your staff on how to run a hotel while providing an excellent customer service experience. I had never been to Miami before but after this wonderful experience I will be coming back and staying here again. In addition, I will be highly recommending this hotel to any of my friends who are visiting the area. « less

We returned 2 weeks ago from Miami and stayed at the Edgewater.its location cannot be beat...right across from the beach on Ocean Drive and just far enough from the hustle and bustle... My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and the hotel was kind enough to welcome us with a bottle of wine and a nice note. Thank you!! The hotel is really great but what makes it even greater is the staff. From the front desk staff to the maid everyone made us feel welcome and appreciated. Some may find the $18 per day a bit excessive- as did we- especially since we never took advantage of the happy hour or the beach chairs. However, with the prices in South Beach $18 can be considered a bargain... We booked an ocean view 1 bedroom suite and the room was great. Contemporary furnishings, clean, large and well appointed. We expected a terrace but the view was gorgeous and compensated for the lack of "outdoor space". We are seasoned travellers but this was out first (certainly not the last) trip to Miami thus were mostly outside the hotel enjoying the sites. Yes, prices all along Ocean Drive and in general in South Beach are exaggerated but...it's South Beach and it is expeceted. We rented a car and took advantage of the $30/day valet parking which was great because after 7pm or so there is no parking to be found anywhere is South Beach, especially weekends. All in all, we had a great time, enjoyed everything about Miami and South Beach and we will certainly return to the Edgewater. Thanks to all staff for making our stay wonderful and memorable!! we willl certainly recommend your hotel to others... « less
