When to Visit Miami Beach, Florida

You won't typically find a bad weather time to visit Miami Beach, but for crowded conditions and higher rates, the peak visitation season is the time to avoid making your way to Florida. From mid-December through mid-April, Miami Beach is the place to enjoy the subtropical Florida climate.

Although not as busy as the peak visitation season, Miami Beach in the spring makes a destination for college students on spring break. During this time, you'll find crowded beaches, nightclubs, and restaurants.

Summer in Florida is hot, humidity is high, and you'll likely run into rainstorms. These storms can range from a fast downpour to severe thunderstorms with dangerous lightning. The months between June to September is the best time to visit; prices tend to be lower and discounts and package deals abound.

Autumn brings milder temperatures, fewer crowds, and minimal rainfall, although an afternoon shower can occur at any time.

Florida's hurricane season runs from June to November. During this time, the National Weather Service keeps residents and news outlets updated on the forecast. If you plan to book your hotel during this time, check whether you'll receive a refund if an impending storm causes you to cancel your travel plans.

Miami Beach is mostly sunny throughout the year with 252 days of sunshine and 118 days with measurable precipitation. On average, summer temperatures average about 87 degrees and winter temperatures average about 63 degrees. The rainfall average is 47 inches per year compared to the U.S. average of 37 inches. Florida is known for its humidity, and warmer seasons of the year can create muggy conditions in the state.

Nothing. Miami Beach is a pain to drive around in with all the construction, bad drivers, and pedestrian foot traffic that jumps out in front of cars.

Score 4.0 / 5

The beach is gorgeous and Lincoln Road is still a great stroll. Ocean Drive, Collins and Washington have changed; the streets wreak of alcohol, trash and urine.

Flavia A., from 25-Jun-2014
"Blue Martini Brickell"
Score 5.0 / 5

We loved, loved, loved The Blue Martini (Brickell) on Saturday night. The live band was awesome, as was the food and drinks as well. It was the perfect alternative to a club.

Latonya L., from 12-May-2014
"24/7 Activity"
Score 4.0 / 5

The area is alive, full of tourists and open all night.

Antoinette C., from 28-Apr-2014
"Beaches"
Score 4.0 / 5

Miami Beach obviously had very nice beaches, though in South Beach it is nearly nearly impossible to find parking, near Central Beach was nice and you could rent jet skis right on the beach. Lots of bars and clubs to go to.
