I stayed here with my husband on our honeymoon and everything that could go wrong did! 1. We had urine in our bed. Which stunk so bad when we got into bed! We changed rooms. 2. They attempted to charge me for the cleaning of my urine soiled clothes. 3. We waited 5 minutes to be seated at the Thai restaurant, so we then just seated ourselves, we were never acknowledged so after 20 mins got up and left! Had to order room service instead of a planned romantic dinner. 4. The pool was filthy! So cloudy, brown foamy floating bits and insects. It was not refreshing as it was as hot as a bath! 5. There were no pool towels to be seen! When I asked for one I was told to search for one myself! 6. Our air conditioning in our 2nd room broke. 7. The last straw, our key card once again didn't work!
However, when I had to complain our visit was turned around by the lovely manager Robin who was very apologetic and compensated us. We were told they were under staffed to compensate for another sofitel nearby. We were upgraded to a honeymoon suite which was lovely but was a view of a road, and we had specifically paid for and ocean view room. After all my complaining and 3rd room change we didn't feel we could ask for an ocean view. However, we appreciated his genuine kindness and sympathy of our disaster stay.
Overall a bit disappointing though. Would not stay there again. « less

Sofitel is one of the best hotels in Krabi with fantastic territory, loooong and laaarge swimming pool, nice old-style rooms, highest quality breakfast; own gold course, L'Occitane toiletries and very helpful General Manager from Switzerland. Hotel also offers complimentary trip to nearby bounty style Kong Island with 200 bat (7 dollars) service charge offering 5 star experience on board of a luxury boat offering cold water and hotel beach towels during the trip. The Kong island is a really paradise place to spend part of a day and such a service is a really 5 star show for hotel guests.
At the same time hotel has some cons like not the best beach, remote location from main Krabi attractions (and tuk-tuk are charging very expensive rates) but you can rent car and it takes 10 minutes to get to the airport and remote location gives the whole area feel of a remote resort without any outside sounds which is nice. I would also recommend hotel management to offer complimentary airport and Krabi city transfers or with minor charge.
All in all very good vacation and I will be happy to return to the hotel again « less

We spent 3 nights in this hotel, staff is very welcoming, rooms are very clean. Breakfast is really good and the fresh coffee, coco and lattes you get is a nice touch. What was really awesome was the children's club ! It was amazing and you can safely leave your child there for a surcharge off course but it's worth it, my 2 year old had a great time. The pool is really nice as well, with a kids pool. Nice gym and free sauna, they a So have free thai chi and water aerobics classes but you have to make a reservation in advance. Town is a bit far but it's a light hearted town with a friendly, touristic atmosphere, with many places to eat and several shops, there's even a Starbucks and macdonalds . Found the food in the hotel to be quite expensive.It's a great place to stay at for a family vacation. « less

Sofitel Krabi is located in a remote area in Krabi Province, about 30 km from airport. For some the location might be inconvenient because virtually there is nothing around except for the beach but for those who rent a car it is a perfect spot to make trips around Krabi. The hotel is renovated, very clean with friendly staff unfortunately speaking poor English but I found it funny. The hotel boasts the second largest pool in Thailand (6000 square kilometers). I really enjoyed the pool as well as the gardens especially during the sunset when it is not so hot. The room was clean with the balcony overseeing the garden and pool. One minus was an old fashioned huge TV that didn't suit the rest but you are not in Thailand to watch TV anyway. :). The breakfast is full of different meals. Unlike many other tropicaI hotels there were not any birds eating with me which was a nice surprise. I adored fresh fruit and drinks made of it. I strongly recommend trips to islands around arranged and managed by Sofitel team cause the speedboat is not overcrowded and you feel safe. I do not recommend local agencies. I had a trip arranged by one and we were packed onto a speedboat like cows, there was no space for anything. The safety issues seemed not to exsist for the staff. We were not informed about life jackets, they were not even counting us each time we embarked the boat. If u like cheap but unsafe sea excursions take a chance. I spend two very pleasant and full of attractions weeks in Krabi and I rate the hotel as very good. Cheers « less

The brand Sofitel evoked great expectations. Great friendly enthusiastic staff, well-laid out resort doesnt disappoint except for the little road that runs between the Hotel and the beach. But it's not really that big a deal, and the road is just a few steps away. The excursion to the government protected island a short 20 min boat ride...must not miss. It's breath-taking beautiful, serene and the narrow passage to a sheltered cove was straight from the Pirates of the Caribbean! The rooms are spacious, and the restaurants well laid out. Service is slow, but maybe the resort atmosphere doesn't need it any other way. The spa, in a beautiful setting, uses L'occitane...as do the suites. However, the toiletries in the regular rooms are strictly okay...recommend you carry your own. Some rooms open into the pool, and they are great! The lobby is spacious too, and the small cafe and bar located here are lively. Staff wishes you with the perfect Bon jour, but don't expect any more french here! They do really go out of their way to accommodate any requests and we were impressed at how hands-on even the GM there was. The kids area / club was nice, and they also have a really nice cooking school set up! If you are travelling with kids, this is a great option. « less
