This hotel is an excellent option for staying in Paris, as it is in a pretty good location (close to L'Opera and Galeries Lafayettes), and at the same time the service is very personal and professional. My wife left her Iphone at the hotel, and they were vere efficient to send it to us in London, without forgetting security rules. VERY WELL DONE. « less

Unfortunately I cannot agree with the mostly good reviews about the Hotel Scribe Sofitel Paris.
We booked a 3 night stay in a Luxury Club Sofitel room.
Checking in, first of all the staff was not very friendly, they gave us a small room which was clearly not a Luxury Room and had never the size of 28 – 37 m2 (301-398 sq. ft.) like the Scribe Homepage says. We complained at the reception and after calling the manager in charge, he offers us a much larger room but unfortunately there were repair works on the outside of the building with scaffolding covering our whole window (furthermore it was not possible to open the window). The manager was friendly and mentioned that all other rooms are full, but we could change again the next day. Day after they offered us a new room without reconstruction but changing the room again was not convenient at all. I personally think, trying to give a client a smaller room category as booked is very unfair and not professional ! Needless to say, that they do not offer us any compensation.
Furthermore the Scribe homepage describes the Club Sofitel Rooms as an eexclusive club service with newspapers, candies and free minibar soft drinks. On the first day we received some pastries to the room as a welcome present, but this was all. A newspaper for example, I have never seen during our stay. It seems like Sofitel is again promise things which they are not fulfill (like the room size). Despite of the free soft drinks from the minibar (which is nice) I did not notice any difference to any other room.
Telling the reception at check out that I was quite disappointed about the hotel, they would like to be a 5star hotel, she was not responsive and told me that I should have asked for example for the newspaper ! No word about the inconvenience regarding the rooms. Again not very customer-friendly.
The rooms in general are nice decorated, classic with a modern touch and well equipped. Although the entrance area is very narrow and the closet is tiny. The positive points are the very cozy bed and the good location of the hotel. Concierge was also friendly.
We have been to Paris often and stayed at much better 4 star hotels. In general I cannot recommend the Scribe since it is too expensive for what they offer. « less

This hotel is in an excellent location, near the Opera (which has a large metro station). We walked from this hotel to the Louvre, to Notre Dame, and to many other attractions.
There are good restaurants nearby, as well as excellent shopping.
This hotel is located across the road from the Intercontinental. It is not located in a residential neighbourhood.
We booked two rooms, one for my wife and I and one for our two teenage children. We emailed in advance to ask for adjourning rooms or at least rooms nearby. We were told this was possible. The rooms were on the same floor but not nearby, and we are unable to be moved. This was disappointing.
We were on the first floor, which seems to have low ceilings.
There was scaffolding outside our window, so we did not have a good view of the street. « less

Luxury hotel, swamped with bus loads of tourists. Outside repair work on one big side of building so big windows of rooms all covered over with scaffolding and construction debris, so no views. We were not told about this when we checked and given the option to move to another room. We had to wait since the room wasn't ready, when we got back about 5pm and got the room we were too tired to complain, and the lobby was super full of arriving bus loads. We did complain the next morning, since it was so dissapointing at 400 euros/night, and finally a guest liaison did offer us a free breakfast. Luckily we didn't have to pay for it, it was a poor buffet. We have been to Paris often and thought this would be a special treat to stay here. Don't recommend it unless you wait until the construction is done and you like large formula hotels and really don't care about $$$. « less
