I am between giving this hotel 3-4 stars. This hotel was a really good value for my stay, which was four nights total (especially given the really high rates for Houston hotels for last minute business travel).
Starting with the good "points" of this property: the room was large, good price, the location was great, and the staff was friendly. The reasons that I had to knock off a few stars on the rating included that fact that breakfast was pretty expensive for what I got; while there were hot items available, all I wanted was a bowl of cereal and a banana, but still was charged the same price as if I had gotten an omelette, bacon, and gravy. Also, the bathrooms were very small, not in balance with the large guestrooms. Finally, while the staff was very friendly, they did not seem very knowledgeable about certain issues, and I had to wait for one of the them to ask a manager about a couple billing issues.
Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives, and I would stay here again if back in the area for work. « less

First, the poor people who work at concierge. I realize that hotels must have sliding doors that open wide enough for luggage carts, but every time they open a gust of warm wind pours in with tang of car exhaust. Perhaps they could have a second set of doors, because I can't imagine the effect on their health.
From the title, yep, nice large room, comfy bed, clean bath. A little wear. Internet was slow and my friend noted the TV wasn't HD although it was wall-mounted flat screen.
The main problem was the proximity to the freeway. It's not a constant drone since straight-pipe motorcycles will roar past occasionally and it is busy all night. There's also light from the highway, but at least that night I didn't hear sirens. We stayed on the third floor, so perhaps ask for a high floor facing away from the freeway. Still I bet there will be noise. I think the cheapest way for this hotel to improve would be to install small white noise machines in each room and as well as blackout curtains.
The reason that such a nice hotel is so reasonably priced has to be the freeway. It's definitely convenient to the Greenway Plaza Business District, and the Freeway will easily take you downtown or the airport or in the other direction near the Galleria. The hotel would not be a long cab ride to the Galleria, the Museum District or Rice University. It would be a little farther to the Med Center or the Astrodome/Reliant Stadium.
It's not a convenient hotel for someone who wants to explore a little on foot. There is a comic book shop and an adult boutique, but with the cars racing by on the frontage road and the pollution, it's great that the hotel has its own restaurant in case you're on your own for the day. « less

My short stay at this hotel was mediocre. I enjoyed the basic gym and the friendly front desk staff who offered me a bottle of water upon my arrival. The room was fairly basic but the internet connection was terrible. Even my Verizon wireless portable internet was spotty, which makes me believe the walls were made of steel. The lack of internet allowed me to go to bed early which was a good experience on their comfy beds. Overall, not a terrible hotel but there are better comparable hotel options in Houston. « less

I stay at this hotel frequently because of its central location and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff The rate is generally competitive and have been visiting there over the past 3 years. I fell in the lobby as a result of a gust of wind that blew the rug up. Fortunately the guests in the lobby assisted me and were genuinely concerned. Not once did the front desk person-manager ask if I was ok, if I needed assistance, or if I needed a bottle of water. She was so nonchalant and uncaring. How disappointed I was in her lack of human nature and customer service. Fortunately the other staff members I have come to know over the years great customer service overshadow her poor customer service. The general manger when I spoke to him listened to my concerns when I spoke with him. Will see what happens next. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"Everything went excellent. I'm really glad I decided to go with both your company and Sierra Suites for accommodations for my wedding. People are now wishing there were more Sierra Suites around. They were even kind enough to offer the discounted rate to those people that weren't sure they'd make to the wedding until after the cutoff date. I have already referred someone to your service for a wedding she's planning in Michigan." R.S. - Parsippany, NY
"We are all set and thank you for your assistance. I found working with your site was very easy to set up and work very well for our guests. The plus of using your site was that it made it very easy for our guests to book at our choice hotel." G.B. - Danbury, CT
