I am a Platinum level Choice Hotel frequent traveler, so I know what should be expected.
This hotel needs a serious manager to come in and right the ship. The standards are pitiful. The building requires a paint job and quality care of the building. My first concern was related to the security of the hotel. When we arrived late, I came in the side entrance and noticed a sign, clearly stating that the door was locked 24 hours a day and required a card key entry. Surprisingly, the door was not locked and I walked right in without a problem. I mentioned to the front desk that the door was not locked according to the signage. He said that the key locks have not worked in a while, but not to worry, because he is always up front. However, it was easy to walk in without being seen. This was the first and biggest red flag that this was not a well managed hotel.
When we were walking down the hall to our room, we heard the carpet "squishing" with water from a leak. I reported to the front desk and there was no great concern, as the clerk said this happens frequently in that hall. He said that he would report it to maintenance...but I had my doubts that they are serious about truly repairing this if it has occurred multiple times.
The sink fixtures were not mounted into the sink properly and would loosely move around when you touched the faucets.
The ice machine was not working properly and the machine was obviously old or not cared for as the catch tray was missing. You had to hold the bucket while the ice was dispensed in the bucket. Not a big deal, but please repair and maintain your equipment.
The "hot breakfast" was offered to us when we came down the next morning. Since our family requires a gluten-free diet for medical reasons, we inquired about the buffet items (eggs, bacon, sausage) as to gluten content. The woman working the breakfast area obviously had not been trained at all in "allergy" foods. She said that " I don't know nothing about no gluten" and could care less about helping us. I asked her if the eggs were fresh or from a carton and she said that all the food comes in pre-packaged boxes. i asked if I could see the boxes and I would be happy to read them and determine if the food had any allergic ingredients. She said "no, I throw all the boxes away...we don't keep the ingredient labels on food." Come on people, this is not hard. Knowing the allergy ingredients is required.
Since there appeared to be no attention to customer service to help customers or deal with problems in a way that reflected higher standards, I cannot recommend anyone staying here. « less

I stayed at this hotel on May 11, 2013. I had read previous review and was skeptical about staying there. I called to inquire about the property the lady answered all my questions with such patience, I was bringing my kids so I am was asking a lot of questions. I knew I had made a good choice. We arrived the front desk staff was great. I loved our stay, the staff was great, our room was nice, clean and the bed was very comfy. The breakfast was good also. I plan on staying again soon. Please don't let the older reviews fool you this is a great place to stay. I was told that they are under new management so I know it will only get better. I would suggest this hotel to anyone. « less

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel and were going to check in prior attending an event that evening. We figured we had just enough time to drop off our luggage and continue on our way.Upon arrival we were greeted by front desk staff. The clerk gave me my room keys and we headed to our room. The hallways had a bad smell to them and the walls had cracks and areas where they were chipped. When we entered our room, It had a foul smell to eat and the bed was messed up as if someone had just got out of it and the room was still dirty. This was late in the evening so housekeeping had plenty of time to clean the room. We went back down the front desk and were a short while later, were giving keys to a second room. We went to the room and the keys did not work. After our third visit to the front desk and wasting an hour just to get our room, we were sent back to the room and the key finally worked. This made us late for the event were going to attend. This room was fairly clean, but all the drinking cups were glass and there were no paper cups or glasses. I'm sure these are not washed with dish soap, since we did not see any on the cleaning cart that had been left in the hall all night along with dishes by door ways that had been there since we arrived. I personally do not want to drink out of a glass that is cleaned with windex or some other kind of chemical. There was about an inch of dust on everything in the room and the shower head was about 4 feet high which made it hard to bend down just to wash your hair. There were also stains in the carpets in the hall ways. The ice machine on our floor did not work and was taped off like a crime scene. This is supposed to be a part of the "Choice Hotel" club, but whose choice, I don't know. Not mine EVER again!!!! I have had nothing but bad luck with the "Choice Hotel" membership. The choice hotels are not very "Choice"...... The clerks were nice, but were not going to do anything or go out of their way to make things right. « less

I would like to give you my most heartfelt apology regarding the part of your stay that was not satisfactory.
As this hotel’s general manager, I challenge our staff to continually improve the experience of our guests, from the cleanliness of our rooms, to the courteous professionalism of our staff. Unfortunately, in your situation, it is clear that we were unsuccessful in achieving these goals. Given our belief that guests like you are our most valuable asset, this failure is particularly troubling.
Your review has caused us to take a serious look at the systems we have in place to handle our day to day operations and we will be making modifications as appropriate.
It's not common that we get the sort of feedback you provided, and although it is discouraging to read, it will help us make our hotel even better in the future. Let me apologize again that your stay was not completely satisfying, and assure you that we will continue to listen to our guests in forums like this one or directly. I hope we have addressed your concern satisfactorily, and that you would give us the pleasure of having you as a guest again at this hotel in the future.
