Our last visit was almost a year ago, and we expected a lot of changes, as we have been getting mailers announcing the new casino. It is still under MAJOR construction. We were there this weekend, and most of the video poker machines were disabled and in the process of being relocated. There is a temporary "haunted house" hallway connecting the two casinos. There were very few video poker and keno machines available, and there was lots of construction noise while we were playing after midnight, but I guess they have to do the work some time. The new carpet is nice and this place may be nice once the renovation is complete. However, they really should have started with the hotel rooms. Although spotless as usual, they are really starting to show wear, especially the carpets. I am glad to see that housekeeping is keeping up to Harrah's standards, which were always excellent. The casino, however, also needs a little upkeep. A lot of the bill acceptors would not accept bills and/or tickets. They need to fix this. It is very frustrating. Also, there is only one cashier cage open, and it is a long walk if you are at the other side of the casino. Had dinner at Kelly English Steakhouse which was exceptional. Breakfast buffet was average, but the workers were really friendly, as were the shuttle drivers. Am looking forward to visiting again in the summer or fall once the renovations are completed. It's disappointing to not be able to play your favorite machines. « less

Hotel staff was rude and less than helpful, to say the least. I am not sure where Hollywood's website pictures were taken but it certainly isn't pictures from this dump. We visit Hollywood casinos often but will NEVER be back to this property. Disgusting! « less

Even when it gets done-which looks only like new carpet and a few new machines,even tho they want you to believe differently,it will NOT BE the HARRAHS-Las Vegas casino it was!! The BUFFET was re-done after Harrah's sold the Casino and the first month it was very good but now it is back to be the WORST buffet ever and Golden Corral might win awards. The Buffet is getting business only because the Casino is COMPing many many people. The food is sloppy, the cutting board meast are tough, it is all fatty foods. Desserts, if you are lucky to get a very very small piece of something. AMERISTAR is much better and their buffet has gone down from what it use to be. There is never anyone on the Casino floor to get help. So you wait,wait,wait.. The Rewards desk is always crowded and slow and you always have to wait for a Manager to get anything done. There is only 1 CASHIER location in the whole casino. I know they will tell you it will improve when the Renovations are done but don't believe them because every PENN NATIONAL Casino I have been in is awful So if it were me I would gamble somewhere else! « less

We had a great time because of these things: The people who work there are very friendly. Our room was excellent: spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet (furthest from the elevator), nicely decorated. (The rug could use updating.) Played the slots and "they let us play" all night. Had dinner at Charlie Ghittos, and our party of four, all ordered something different, and we all enjoyed what we ate. The only disappointment was, we were too full to try desert! We also had the breakfast buffet. I'm not a fan of -any- buffet, so I don't think it's fair that I rate it. But, I will say they have a great selection. If I want "good" coffee, I go to Club Aroma, which has strong coffee and beautiful, delicious, pasteries. Plenty of parking. There's a small gift shop on the premises. Our traveling companions visited Sammie Beach Bar, which had a great entertainer that evening, however, they were disappointed in the limited selection of beer(s). They did, however, get the beer(s) they enjoy at the casino bar. « less
