This hotel is easy access from I-95 but you won't hear the noise especially with the A/C unit going. It is a bit far from the beach and downtown area (maybe 6 - 8 miles). Next door is a Denny's and an IHOP - other restaurants are a bit of a walk. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and the staff, from front desk to housekeepers, was friendly and helpful. Breakfast, which is included, is a bit above par with a choice of hot egg (fair), breakfast meat, pancakes, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls. My favorite 'extra' was the magnifying mirror in the bathroom, mounted low and near the toilet so you can sit and attend to your face - a big help for those of us with aging vision! My top choices in Melbourne are probably the Residence Inn, the Courtyard Melbourne West and the Fairfield, but they are usually more expensive. The only reason I don't prefer this one to those other properties is because the furniture in the rooms is a bit dated and showing its age. But I'll continue to stay here if the price is better than the others because really there's nothing to complain about. « less

Yes, Denny's is just a short walk from our hotel! We also have lots of great restaurants that deliver- Jason's Deli (Salads, Soups, Sand.), Old School Pizza (Pizza, Wings, & Pasta), Chinese Buffet, and Harbor City Diner (Hamburgers, Gyros, Salads, Chicken, and Pasta). Just ask the front desk for menu's! I am so glad to hear your bed was comfortable, and our staff was friendly and welcoming! Thank you for the compliments of our breakfast buffet also! Glad you could use our magnifying bathroom mirror- I agree, so helpful if you need to put in your contacts or apply some make-up! We stay at this HI Express each April (for 6 years) when we are in town for a Viet Nam Veteran's reunion. Many hotels offer a complimentary breakfast these days and have similar rates. We could just as easily stay somewhere else. Tina is the reason we stay at this hotel! « less

Only potential problem may be parking. I had no difficulty but the HIX shares the property with a large Days Inn and depending on timing, the nearest parking space could be a hike. « less
