Located in Downtown Chatham, Ontario, the Retro Suites Hotel has combined historic elements of the King William Block and modern amenities, providing an unparalleled accommodation experience for guests to the region. The buildings that encompass the Retro Suites Hotel underwent a series of renovations, beginning in 1996, with the emphasis placed on preserving their original character and architecture. The Block has some of the finest examples of Victorian architecture in the city. T.J. Rutley, a prominent, local architect, designed the George Stephens hardware store in the 1880’s, and the building and its cast iron façade have been painstakingly restored. The staircase in the hotel lobby dates back to 1895, when it was part of the Merrill Hotel. The terrazzo floors and tin ceilings, along with the contemporary art and furnishings, give the Retro Suites Hotel its unique appeal.
The property features 34 exquisite, individually-appointed suites – each with its own flair and personality. Guests, with an interest in brickwork, may select ‘Urban Studio’ or ‘Study’, with bricks and mortar being prominently featured throughout the respective spaces. Those that wish to be transported to a different time or place may wish to choose the Victorian ‘King William’, the southwestern ‘Santa Fe’, or the ever-funky ‘Blast’. Even though all the suites are different, every room is equipped with a wet bar, fridge, microwave, satellite television, wireless internet access, along with many complimentary amenities.
Centrally located in South Western Ontario, just a short drive from London and Windsor/Detroit, the Retro Suites Hotel is minutes away from museums, shops and restaurants. The area is also home to provincial parks and lakes Erie and St. Clair, along with world-class wineries. After a day of discovery, be sure to choose accommodations that feature refined style and elegance – the Retro Suites Hotel.
