As a business traveler who has been to a lot of hotels, I'd say stay away from this until the renos are done then give it a chance. Stayed with a bunch of friends for a weekend and it was not pleasant. Old decor with musty smell and dust. It's one of those places, where if you were to jump on the bed or sofa, a cloud of dust would explode from it. Only pros was the room was big and it was close to transportation and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Everything else was pretty sub-par. TV's are still the tube televisions... really? « less

The hotel's bathroom is good?. It has a bathtub. You can do a bubble bath for your child, or relax yourself in the tub with hot water in it. The beds aren't hard, and they provide soft, cottony blankets. The pillows look very tall, but when you sleep on it, you fall right through it! Finally, they also provide a mini refrigerator, safe, so you can keep your personal stuff in it. The housekeeping service is quite good too!?. It really tidies up your room!
From hotel front, turn right, and right again at the mall. You'll find lotsa local owned food stall. Yummy and cheap. Go along another 5 mins and you'll find the MRT station.
From hotel: - its NT180 to Shilin Night Market by taxi. - NT120 to Raohe Night Market by taxi. « less

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in March for one night one weekend trip to Taipei. The hotel itself is huge and quite elegant. The hotel was undergoing renovation during the time of visit, which will hopefully bring this hotel from average to excellent. Location is convenient and walkable within 5 minutes of the nearest MRT.
Best parts of this hotel are the large rooms and the service. We reserved a double room online. The room was huge! It had two separate rooms, two bath rooms, a couch and TV, and table area for eating. It was really like a small apartment. The only problem was that you could tell the room was out dated. Stains on the carpets and curtains and old furniture and appliances. However, everything was very clean. Bed was fairly hard, as are many beds in Asia, but the pillows and duvet were very comfy. Pool and spa area were very nice but again, were showing some age. WiFi was not working in the rooms, which was a bit annoying but was working in the lobby area. This could have been due to the renovation efforts.
The service at this hotel was excellent. Check-in was easy and fast. Service at the restaurant was very good even though the food was average. We used the sauna near closing time and the staff allowed us to enter. We even called for an extra blanket at 1 am and it was delivered to our room promptly. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were perhaps the best part of the experience.
Overall, we had a good stay in this hotel. I think when they are finished with renovation it could be a nice 4-star or 5-star hotel. I would stay here again, but there are so many options in Taipei, I'm sure there are other places that would compare to this. « less
