I got in super early and was really ill so the lady at front desk actually let me in hotel hours early! Life saver! Her name was Jessica! I honestly dont know what i would have done without her. The hotel was very clean and nice and cold but,I honestly felt like there was other hotels for less with same stuff. My room didnt even have a microwave. Trying to sleep was hard due to so many guests doors slamming and the maid service in morning was yelling back and forth down through hall which really upset me. Other than that hotel rooms nice for family and plenty of room, amazing bath tub to lay in without neck hurting and refreshments at every level. « less

When we arrived on may 2, 2013, we were extremely dissapointed on the view from our room. It was a parking lot, porta potties, and sand dunes. When I went to the desk and told them, they immediately offered to upgrade us as soon as room became available. They also told us there was several fraternaties there and put us on the opposite end. The next day we were offered upgrade at very good price. Every time we needed something, the front desk was Very friendly and helpful. But the restaurant is another story....We tried 3 times to eat there and every time it was closed for private party. First time we went down to bar and was told the kitchen was backed up and we couldnt even wait at the bar for table. Was told to come back later and maybe we could eat. We never went back.....This is unacceptable and I wrote to resort twice and haven't even had a response...guess they don't care. « less

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention and apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced due to the restaurant being closed for a private party doing your stay. Occasionally, our restaurant is rented out for private events. When, this saturation happens the front is trained to notify the guest at check in that the restaurant won’t be available at that particular time. So, that the guest will be able to make other arrangements at one of our great local restaurants in the area. We did receive your email response about this matter and a reply was send back you on 05/09/13. Once again, we appreciate you taking the time to share your comments with us. This place gets the job done. It's clean with easy access to the beach, but don't be fooled by the use of the term resort in the title. This is by no means a nice hotel, and is much more akin to a beachside motel. The rooms are significantly overpriced for what you get, and in light of the horrible experience we had, the prices are a complete joke.
Our experience here was a bit of a nightmare. We were there for a wedding, and on Friday night, the entire hotel was taken over by a fraternity. They ran up and down the halls screaming all night, tried to break into random people's rooms, threw things off of the balcony and made it impossible to sleep. We heard constant screaming and profanity, and it was obvious that underage drinking was everywhere. We did not see a single security guard. Several complaints to the front desk yielded no help. I've never seen a hotel completely taken over by a group of people, and certainly never seen a hotel that did nothing to stop it.
On saturday night, we decided we had had enough and went to the front desk explaining our plan to check out. We got no apology but a lot of attitude. This is not a way to get a customer to ever come back. I finally said, "ok, you can let us check out or you can get a scathing online review," to which the desk clerk responded, "That's fine." Not really cool when the staff doesn't care about the hotel's reputation. Finally, after myriad threats from my lawyer husband, they let us check out. So they get one extra star for doing so.
The bad attitude seems to be de rigeur at this hotel. We walked into the dolphin reef restaurant and were met with such snippy hostility that we promptly walked out.
But honestly, this hotel just exemplifies the complete death of customer service. Who thinks it's ok to respond to a customer complaint with not even so much as an apology? Seriously? I love Tybee Island, and go there frequently, but hell will freeze over before I stay here again. « less
