The Hyatt Regency in Boston is a clean and friendly hotel. The location is good if you need the subway or want to be close to Boston Common. The bar is good enough for a quick beer. The layout of the hotel is was fell short for me. Street level access to the hotel requires you to take first one painfully slow elevator to the lobby level, then cross the busy lobby to the second set of elevators to get to rooms. I know it's not an uncommon layout, but I find it cumbersome. The fitness center is very nice once you get to it. Entrance to the fitness is found by walking down a hallway on the six floor, then down some stairs to a door, then you need to walk down a hallway and down more stairs and then finally to the entrance of the fitness center. Again, not a huge deal, but awkward and cumbersome. Once you do find the pool and sauna they are great! Everything in the fitness center clean and welcoming. I loved the saline pool. Noise was an issue for us while we stayed at the Hyatt Regency. They feature a very pretty open indoor courtyard floor plan. (I'm not sure how else to describe it) Nice to look at, but this also means that at 2am the running and screaming drunks on the 18th floor sound like they are inside your room on the 16th floor.
I would stay here again if I got a really good room rate. « less

We stayed at the Hyatt recently for 4 nights at the end of our USA trip. Location was excellent, walking distance to Subway, South Station, Hanover Street for Italian, Boston Common, Chinatown and you can walk to Fenway Park if walking is your thing, we did it and it was fine. Good coffee shop around the corner on Washington that also does light breakfasts. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Not sure why people are even commenting on the 2 lobby's, it's not an issue at all. Free WiFi in the lobby but not in the rooms, that is about the only downfall. Our room was a good size and bed comfortable. « less

We stayed here during the lockdown for the bombing, two adults and two children under 4, and the staff and management were exceptional. This is a business hotel, with an amazing pool and gym, and though the majority of the clientele were professionals they catered to our children and helped us to keep them entertained during the lockdown. Every staff member was handing out stuffed animals, lollipops, coloring paper...they even made our daughter kids food when the menu was limited to a buffet.(cooks and waitstaff couldn't make it in with transportation shut down). It was a stressful time and people were on double shifts yet still pleasant and helpful. This is the second time we've stayed with our two kids and both experiences have been excellent. Location is great, walking distance to Faneuil Hall and easy on/off to the mass pike. The hotel is looking a little tired and worn but that was acceptable for the price. The restaurant is pretty good, especially breakfast. « less

Was sent to Boston directly after the terrorist bombing to assist with the aftermath and spent 7 nights in this wonderful hotel with one of the most courteous and professional staffs I've ever seen. The rooms are comfortable and the beds are designed to give you a good rest. Right in the heart of the financial district, there are scores of restaurants within minutes (walking) and shopes everywhere. I will visit this one again. « less

I stayed at the Hyatt May 7 - 9 and am a bit shocked by recent reviews as it seems we were at a different hotel. I own a business and travel often and have for the last 20 years. I must admit that the Hyatt Regency is a step up for me as I usually stay at Marriott Courtyard or Hyatt Place when I travel for business. I thought the building was lovely and really liked the way you drive under the building out of the line of traffic for valet parking - other hotels leave you out on the street as you gather luggage, etc. The valet was very helpful and although I told him I didn't need help with my luggage he saw me struggling since I had a few extra bags this trip, he took them from me and insisted he get the bellman to bring my luggage directly to my room. I felt like royalty. The check-in was easy and the front desk staff are pleasant and professional. My bags were in my room by the time I got to it and I thought the room was lovely. Great large windows with a view of the cityscape. I can't imagine what they would do to make it better. Great location close to my client and very good restaurants, good shopping, easy access to the T. By the second night of a busy work schedule all I wanted was room service and a cup of coffee. I ordered my meal (the salmon was very good) and asked them to send some cream as the Hyatt provided coffee in the room but I hate that powdered cream stuff. When the food came it all looked great but alas they had forgotten the cream. I mentioned it to the server and he offered to bring cream back but I thought it silly to make him go back down 14 floors for cream for one cup of coffee so I told him not to bother. Five minutes later as i was enjoying my meal he returned not only with cream but also a nice china mug so I could enjoy my coffee with cream in something other than the paper cups provided in the room. I can't tell you how happy I was to get that cream and i only wish I had asked his name so his manager would know what a great employee they have. Also had an opportunity to visit the fitness room and it was one of the best I have seen in a hotel setting. I have always felt a hotel is only as good as it's staff and the Hyatt Regency Boston has a great team! I did not use the concierge as I really like and trust Tripadvisor whenever I travel. My only complaint is that everything was very expensive, perhaps normal for this level of service but a bit more than I was expecting ($50 per day for valet seemed like a lot to me as the car never moved for two days). « less
