Our room was not clean when we checked in. Then the next day they did not clean it and tried to blame it on us that we had left the do not disturb sign out. We had to ask for soap and shampoo. The sliding glass doors on the closets fall off whenever you move them. « less

What a pleasant surprise. Marriott has improved substantially over the years. This property in contradicts its image. The staff has the discipline & courtesy we lack in the most hotels. The comp breakfast in way more than offered in the USA Best Westerns. As a travel industry veteran I have rarely offered or taken the time to rate a property. This one echoed and earned my accolades.
Hope they keep up the good work / and it is work running an hotel 24/7 I know.
Some number of years ago, the travel industry called good and bad customer letters "orchid" and "onion" letters. Well, this is an orchid letter. It is one of the rare, favorable commentaries on a hotel today. For some time, have believed that old-fashioned hard work, professionalism and the standards and criteria that make hotels great have long since either disappeared or perhaps gone overseas to the Far East. Clearly this is not the case with this property and their get things done attitude. Even the manager John - worked the front desk ... Staffers like Jerry, Damien,Deanna, Vlad and the GM all were there to solve our small problems and make the Disney time smooth

I love staying at this hotel. Anytime my family and I visit Orlando, this is the hotel we prefer. We love this hotel (1) because of it's location. It is in the center of all the theme parks, but not located in the very busy, congested, heavy traffic area; (2) because of the spacious rooms. Most hotels in the area don't have 2 bedrooms that accommodates 5 people. And the few that do, have the nerve to have only queen size beds in them. This hotel has a big comfy king bed in one room and two comfy queen beds in the second bedroom. They also have a pull out sofa for the living room and a nice size kitchen with a full refrigerator (not a mini fridge) and a full stove with an oven; (3) because of the very nice and wonderful staff. If I had a hotel of my own, I would actually still the staff from this hotel. Everyone was very kind and some went out of their way to make our stay even better.
The hotel is also conveniently located near a Super WalMart, Dr. Phillips Hospital, many of the great restaurants that Orlando has to offer and Winn Dixie.
My family and I are planning another trip to Orlando at the end of May 2013 and guess where we will be staying.... « less

The suite we stayed in for 8 days was just perfect. The personnel were absolutely the best. Everything in Orlando is fairly close, as we went to the following attractions: Discovery Cove, SeaWorld, Universal Studios & City Walk, Downtown Disney, and the nice town of Celebration. By the way, the Inn has all the means for you to purchase tickets for the attractions. Every thing we can say about this Inn is positive - they even give you a real breakfast (not continental) in the morning at no extra charge. Our trip was in March 2013, and the weather was beautiful. « less

Last time we stayed in Orlando, we stayed at the Courtyard Lake Buena Vista. Although this hotel is only about 1/2 mile away, it is WORLDS apart from the Courtyard. For one thing, the location is so much quieter, and since one can access the hotel from the previous exit as opposed to the insanely trafficy Apopka-Vineland exit, it made getting to and from the hotel much easier. Also, the hotel, while also a little older, seemed more kept up than the Courtyard.
We had reserved a one-bedroom suite--one night free on points, and one night paid. The front desk graciously upgraded us to a two-bedroom suite free of charge. (Husband is a Platinum Marriott member; however, it has been our experience that upgrades do not always happen when staying on points. We did go the week after the "big spring break week" so it wasn't as crowded at the hotel, so this may be part of the upgrade experience.)
The room was nice--2 BR, 2 BA, with a fairly roomy living/kitchen room and a sofabed. It was quiet and faced a pond/wetland-type area. The hotel pool was really nice and very uncrowded. The water was heated, which was a bonus, and it was visually appealing. (The kiddie pool was freezing, though...it seemed to be in the shade most of the day. No kids went in it.) They had free beer and wine from 6-7:30. We did not catch the evening receptions, but one night it was soup, salad, and desserts. Thursday would have been hot dogs and hamburgers. We ended up eating out on the soup night because with a 3- year old and a 6-year old, that isn't their favorite type of meal. (Soup and salad would have been just fine for an adults-only trip.)
Breakfast was adequate--more choice than a Fairfield, but still using the pre-cooked, quick serve types of meat and eggs, which are not my favorite. They did have nice homemade yogurt with granola and fruit.
The hotel is very close to Downtown Disney and was about a 10-minute drive to Animal Kingdom. You do have to pay two tolls to get here from the airport (gotta love Orlando). We did not use it, but the hotel provided a shuttle 6 times a day to and from EPCOT. There is also a very nice urgent care doctor within a mile (on the aforementioned busy Apopka-Vineland Road)...daughter had an ear infection and was treated fairly quickly.
So, overall, this is a quiet, low-key hotel with fairly nice amenities and a good front desk. We would stay here again when traveling with the kids to Orlando, as, in my humble opinion, a suite is the only way to go with the little ones (much more conducive to naps, adults can stay up later with light on in other room(s), big fridge to store drinks, food, etc.). « less
