Team Stayed here for a tournament. The phones in some of the rooms didn't work and the staff was unresponsive to the complaint. Several teams were here for the tournament and each team seem to have their own experience. Staff was professional, with little to no "extra" customer service qualities.
The rooms were the average ( what you would expect) for a HIE. I find that The holiday Inn express and "Suites" makes the difference.
After returning home, we received a call from the manager stating that other guests in the hotel were complaining about the kids running around ( one incident, one particular guest), it was amazing that their were 3 teams in the hotel, how could he honestly say which team it was, and it should have been addressed THEN....not 2 days after the weekend stay.
Come to find out ....it was another older team who booked rooms in the hotel, I never received another phone call to apologize!
My favorite for this area is usually the Sheraton and or a Marriott ( rooms were books due to the Easter weekend). Next time I would rather drive a little further for the peace of mind and a little friendlier staff. .....over all...it was just fair...giving it a " c- " « less

Let me preface my review by saying that I am used to staying in four star hotels, but didn't want to pay $200/night for Atlantic City on President's Day Weekend. When I checked in, I asked if any of the renovated rooms were available and was told that all the rooms were accounted for- my own fault for not making the request in advance. I did pay around $80 for three of us in the room/night, so the price was right- via Hotwire. There is ample (and free) parking and the front desk was very helpful. Gave me a Priority Club gift, which was a nice touch. The room was serviceable, nothing special, but not the worst either. They have a gym. Though it is small, with only a few pieces of equipment, it was better than nothing. They also have an outdoor pool which I didn't use as it was February.
The front desk/breakfast buffet was in a separate building from the rooms, but it wasn't a big deal. The (free) buffet was decent- coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, breads, fruit, and cereal. It hit the spot.
They have a shuttle to downtown AC, but it doesn't run regularly so we drove into AC both days- about a 20 minute ride. All in all, a good value for frugal types. Again I didn't want to cough up the $200+ parking + breakfast for three people I would have at a downtown AC hotel. So the cost for two nights, plus parking in AC was less than $200 for two nights, which would have cost around $500 for the luxury of being close to downtown. « less

We stayed here for a cheerleading competition so fortunately we weren't at the hotel much or in the room. We were in a "renovated" room and it was still gross, like the kind of room that you tear apart the bed looking for bed bugs. No one in our group was happy with the quality of the hotel.
The landscaping around the hotel was non existant, there was no curb appeal to the property, it almost looked abandoned. There are also abandoned office buildings on one side of the property. We didn't really feel safe walking around outside of the hotel.
The breakfast is served in the lobby area which has no hotel rooms near it (again, how do staff ensure security if they are in a whole other building?). The breakfast was gross as well, if you are into pre-frozen pastries in plastic wrapping then this is your spot. « less

First I would like to say Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I know we had a few cheer groups staying with us a few months ago, however the overall feedback was very good. I am sorry you felt as though we did not meet your expectations. As you mentioned we are currently under renovation and in our next phase we are adding an addition to our rooms building to be able to move the lobby and breakfast into the one building. While we have never had any security issues, we understand the inconvenience of having two separate buildings and are excited about this change. Our rooms are very clean and we do not have bed bugs as I'm sure you are aware since neither you nor your team had any issues with such. I'm not sure where the frozen pastries came from since all of our bagels, donuts, muffins and danishes are delivered fresh on a daily basis from two of the best bakeries in town. And of course, Holiday Inn Express is known for their Hot Cinnamon Rolls and the new Pancake Machine which makes your pancakes as you wish. I truly hope that next time you are in town you will stay with us again and experience the new addition.

On a recent business trip I reviewed all hotels in the Egg HarborTownship NJ area by stars and price. While the Holidy Inn Express wasn't a 4 star rating the price was right. I'm not sure why this hotel wasn't rated 4 stars, but the cleanliness, convenience, size of room, superb shower, new bathroom, ample lighting, flat screen TV, and the best bed I have ever slept on surely rates the hotel at least a 4 star. Add to that a great simple free breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, all without hearing trucks going by. The woman at the reservation desk was friendly and I was done registering was quickly. Upon entering the room I noticed how clean the entire room was, including the bathroom. Great shower and shower head in the bathroom. Lots of heat, and verty dark at bedtime. Fully renovated. I read some of the reviews that were negative, and to me it seemed that those people were reviewing a different hotel. Stay here, nothing not to like, and a great choice!! « less
