Typical older hotel/motel for Ocean City, MD...First, the staff provided good service and were very pleasant. At check-in, Charlotte was very welcoming and accommodating. We were given room 526; the room was in the south building facing the bay. We noticed almost immediately that it had worn carpeting, bed blankets appeared to be tattered and dingy. Bed linens also appeared dingy and old. No screen or safety bar on balcony sliding door. There were old cigarette butts on the balcony (this is a non smoking facility). The sofa had seen better days and was stained, tattered and over worn. The chairs both in the room and on the balcony were made of plastic. Taking all this into account we still tried to stay in the room until we turned on the air conditioning..sounded like someone was beating pots and pans.. it was so loud that even when we turned up the TV to the highest sound setting we could not hear the programs. Called the front desk at 11:30PM.. Maintenance came and we the front desk staff moved us to room 537. The responding staff - Stephen & Fernando were accommodating and apologetic. In room 537, the bed linens were in better condition as was the bed blankets and the rug appeared to be cleaner than what was in the prior room. However, the air conditioner was still very loud.. however, we decided that things were not going to get much better so we stuck it out.. We were at the hotel because we were attending a convention and did not have the option of staying elsewhere. One day, we had to call the front desk and flag down the cleaning staff to get our room cleaned and linens changed. The hotel pools were not open (inside and out), lobby sofa in the south lobby was disgusting and dirty. We had snacks in the hotel bar, Finnegans.. not too bad.. typical bar food. Attended two hotel 'banquet' meals.. 1st was chicken and beans with rice and cake for dessert.. food was below par; however, service/wait team was very good! 2nd banquet meal was crab cakes, baked potato and asparagus..potato & veg were fair; however, crab cakes tasted like they were pre-frozen from a box. Check out was quick. Overall the hotel needs renovation... it certainly is not a place where I would look forward to coming to and to spend a vacation here. It is a facility that is weather beaten and in need of paint, new room amenities including rugs and furniture. Will I go again? Probably not. « less

The location was very good. The room was very clean. The room was nice but it is from the 1980's . It needs upgrades to bring it to the 21 century. The building we were put in was a 5 minute walk to the lobby. The lobby was a frequently visited place. We were next to the elevator the first night. We heard loud drunk people at least 3 times the first night. So we couldn't sleep. The front desk asked, "why didn't you call security?" I answered, "because it was all night long." We visited the front desk and saw people that were talking about getting in fist fights and going to jail. They must have been making the noise or the cops were. The front desk moved our room the next day. It took until 3pm to move the room. I am on vacation and waiting for a room change doesn't sound relaxing. So finally we moved. Again we were next to a room with a loud party all day then all night. Why did the staff not have the college crowd on one floor and the families on an other floor? The hotel needs management restructuring big time. The stay ended up being far from relaxing. « less

We stayed at the Princess Bayside on 5/3 and 5/4 2013. There is nothing to complain about. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Our room was perfect. The restaurant had great food. Plus it's easy access to Seacrets. We are coming back in June and we'll definitely be staying at Princess Bayside again. « less

Let me start by saying that all my pics are of room 316 and the pool area and I will tell you that I did speak to the general manager Ray Rickett and he informed me that this is CLEAN so beware and my pictures are real not like the bull they try to sell you on the website. I was not offered any compensation....First we were greeted by a sworm of ants and told that was the only room. we were with a cheer competition so had no choice we had to stay in this hotel..upon further inspection the bed had a cloth wee wee pad under the sheet and the mattress was very very old. we were told some rooms had renovations... by the look of the place it has never been renovated....the the fire sprinkler in room is not attached and has black mold/mildew around it. The tub is full of nicked missing porcelain and the furniture is completely banged up. The TV is the very old bulky kind and the dresser draw is being held together by hot glue....so is the door stop on the peeling wallpaper. The bathroom had a pre-school toilet. It was so small that I can tell you the safe in the closet was bigger...odd!! The dated wallpaper in the room is full of square repair patches. The chair in the room is plastic and the radiator is either on or off ...meaning we put the heat on and it does not automatically shut off so the room got hotter and hotter...so you have to babysit the temp all thru the night. The decor throughout is from circa 1970 and very dirty meaning the green carpet is yellow leading to the pool and the door jam is completely rotted away. General Manager informed me that is clean!!! Saddle going into bathroom in room was full of dirt and stuck on dirty sticky tape. please look at all my pics because the hotel thinks this is ok!!!! « less

Management response from Ray Rickett, General Manager
The following is an account of the guests stay from the Hotels prospective. The guest reserved a standard room with her cheer leading team for a Cheer competition in Ocean City. The guest was place in a room near other members of her cheer group that reserved a standard room. The guest realized she was not near member of the group that reserved a bayfront efficiency and wanted to move. We were sold out of bayfront efficiencies but we did offer the guest King efficiency which would be closer to her friend. She declined the offer not wanting to pay the additional cost of the efficiency. At this point she seem to become on a mission to find anything and everything she could to discredit the hotel. During her stay the only issue she mention was that her heater did not work and we immediately moved the guest to another standard room. The guest checked out on Sunday and called the next day with a list of complaints. The guest threatened to post pictures she had taken unless we gave her a free stay for the entire weekend. A free stay is not warranted or reasonable in this instance. Two areas of concern were found, the escutcheon rink on the sprinkler head was loose exposing dirt behind it and dirty tape on the bathroom threshold. We could have done better and I offered and applied a $25 per night discount to the guest. There was no other evidence of dirt in the guest room. The cheer group had a last minute requested for a area to practice each evening and our night Manger offered a section of our meeting room as a curtesy to the cheer group. Maintenance work is continuing in areas of the meeting room to get it ready for our upcoming banquet season. The guest took advantage of this by taking pictures in areas not available to the general public and not yet completed.

First time staying at hotel during St Patty's day weekend. My room was exceptionally clean and just loved the mattress. Woke up without any back pain. Yoo hoo. Had plenty of hot water and the staff are really first class! Will not hesitate to stay there again and I will be there next year for another St Patty's Day parade and celebration. « less
