BEST WESTERN ADMIRAL RODNEY
Hotel Year Built 1750 Year Remodeled 2009 Additional Property Description It may be at the foot of the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds, but BEST WESTERN Admiral Rodney Hotel should be at the top of your list when it comes to choosing your next Great British getaway. Surrounded by a number of attractive towns and villages as well as livelier Norwich and Lincoln and just nine miles from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, our idyllic conservation area setting will prove the perfect backdrop to a relaxing stay, along with the quaint market town of Horncastle, well known for its many antique shops. Our former coaching inn is choc full of Georgian charm, with an appealing, friendly character to match its tastefully decorated interior. Little wonder it has been Grade II listed. When you fancy a bite to eat or a draught to drink, the unique courtyard restaurant and Rodney Bar offer a selection of fine food and real ales.

I have been to the restaurant a many times over the years, and also attended meetings/functions. However, by large the building is still lovely, the staff were still pleasant. However, the food night again was terrible and probably the worst restaurant food I’ve had in years. There were two of us for a last minute late dinner. We purchased drinks from the bar (a glass of lemonade and a pint of tom woods) and asked at the restaurant if we could have a table (just before 9pm). The restaurant was busy, however there were plenty of tables free, however the waitress wanted to seat us in the entrance from the bar until we asked about being seated at another table. We only had a main course as it was getting late. It must be noted that prices have increased recently. Overcooked grilled salmon on bed of stewed sloppy vegetables (onions mostly with the odd carrot stick) with - what I think might have meant to be a balsamic dressing…… I was very hungry, cost £15. .. our value £4-5 Overcooked fat of pork (over half was pure fat)- purely not edible, however the sauce was good. Price £15, our value – £2 for sauce. Side vegetables with potatoes- very disappointing, vegetable were adequate but not really any imagination of variety or season, and potatoes where simply boiled. I asked the waitress to take away the Tom Woods (as this was off)- PLEASE NEVER TRY TO DRINK REAL ALE IN THIS PUB-ALWAYS TERRIBLE- THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO KEEP BEER), and asked for a glass of merlot to eat with dinner. The waitress did not take this off the bill! – just terrible Good points: Lovely building, nice re-fit of bar area, staff pleasant. Bad points: Appalling overpriced food (by restaurants standards). Visited this hotel as part of a golf trip via Woodall Spa . Rooms comfortable enough but it was the food which seriously let this hotel down.We had a deal which included a choice of 3 starters , 3 mains and 3 deserts . The portions were incredidbly small and by the time we got to dessert the choice had gone to two , paying extra for cheese and biscuits wasn't an option and we couldn't finsih off with a coffee due to " its after 9 so we have truned the machine off " !! None of were sure what the vegetables were which were served with the meal and the only thing to distinguish them was the clours of white , green and orange - they all tasted the same which was bland and wet. I had higher hopes for breakfast which wasn't a lot better and they had run out of mushrooms , slightly annoying when you consider there was a supermarket opposite the hotel - too difficlut to go and purchase a few ? The staff were pleasant enouogh but I can't see any of us rushing back. « less

The Admiral Rodney is an elegant hotel with 31 on suite bedrooms, all of which are to a very high standard. They have light snacks going on all day and a Carvery every lunchtime, which is very popular. The staff are well trained and are friendly and helpful whatever your requirements. The Hotel is very central for the numerous antique shops,.book shops and within easy reach of West Ashby Golf Club and Woodhall Spa Golf Clubs, which are only 4 miles up the road. It is suitable for business functions as it has function/conference rooms, quiet lunches or dinners, romantic stays or just passing through the town. Being part of Best Western you are able to book through a central booking office if you wish. There is WIFI available everywhere. The Rodney Bar has comfortable settee seating and is a good meeting place for morning coffee. It is on the main road, but is not unusually noisy. . It is also only 10 miles away from Cadwell Park Racing Circuit and if you are actually racing there are ground floor rooms which over look the carpark so your vehicles are safe. « less

We stayed here for a 2 night break and found the hotel to be very good in many ways. The staff were without exception very attentive and friendly and appreared to have been trained to a high standard. This applied to reception, breakfast service and dinner. The room was clean and of adequate size although the bathroom looked a little tired. I would also have liked some light near the dressing table mirror as the window was small (his was a forme coaching inn so I am sure this could not be helped!) The hotel itself was light and airy with a large car park. Food was of a ggod standard with lots of choices for breakfast and dinner. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"I had been looking for hotels on the internet for days. Your company made my search so much easier and I was offered better deals!" K.W. - Macon, GA
"Everything went excellent. I'm really glad I decided to go with both your company and Sierra Suites for accommodations for my wedding. People are now wishing there were more Sierra Suites around. They were even kind enough to offer the discounted rate to those people that weren't sure they'd make to the wedding until after the cutoff date. I have already referred someone to your service for a wedding she's planning in Michigan." R.S. - Parsippany, NY
