I was in Denver for work and originally had reservations at another hotel in the DTC, but got bumped due to an overbooking. The original hotel sent me to the Lone Tree Golf Club and Hotel. I was initially quite skeptical about this hotel - it is very much out of the way, tucked back in a residential neighborhood, and when I arrived, the place was very quiet, almost deserted. From the outside, it didn't appear to be open when I arrived (7pm or so in the evening). The hotel turned out to be great though.
There are only a few rooms (15, I believe), and the hotel wasn't even close to full, so it was very quiet - hardly anyone around at all. It is a fairly large facility with conference and meeting spaces, large common room with a fireplace, a restaurant, pro-shop, etc. The hotel looks and feels very much like a mountain lodge. During the day there is a lot more going on since it is a golf club - in the early mornings and the evenings when I was there, it was extremely quiet. The course is right out the back and some of the rooms have views of the course.
When I arrived, man at the check in desk was very welcoming and friendly, which was esspecially nice after being bumped from another hotel. Overall, the people here were very nice.
My room was great - spacious, spotlessly clean, nice sitting area, good desk space for working, large and very comfortable bed, and even a nice-sized deck. The decor was a bit dated, but everything was well cared for and comfortable.
Breakfast is included in the rate and consists of coffee and juice, cereal, bagels, and fruit. It is simple, but good quality.
The location of the hotel is in the middle of an upscale residential neighborhood, very quiet and well tended. There aren't any restaurants in the immediate area, but there are quite a few choices within a 5-10 minute drive. Access to I-25 is pretty easy, although you do have to drive a few miles to get to it. The drive into the DTC took about 15-20 minutes in morning traffic.
For a business traveller, this is a good alternative if DTC hotels are full or you just want to stay a bit away from the busy-ness of that area. And, if you are a golfer, it is great, of course. I don't think that there is a fitness center, and there isn't a pool so no place for a workout, however if the weather is good, the area is great for walking and jogging. There are also tennis courts across the parking lot. « less

This is probably the 20th time I have stayed at the Lone Tree. The facility is beautiful and the rooms are almost too big with elegant furniture, good mattresses, plus a mini-kitchen. The reason I continue to stay there, however, is that the staff is very responsive and attentive. Key staff members will always go an extra mile to make you happy. It is a great place for a meeting and would surely be so for a wedding or banquet. I highly recommend it. Tim Rouse « less

Returned to Lone Tree for two nights for the first time since 1998. We moved to California and had not been back since. The stay was perfect. Our room was spacious and upscale overlooking the beautiful golf course. HD flatscreen TV, Complimentary breakfast in a golf resort setting. We used to book my parents into the hotel when they visited us when we lived in Lone Tree in the 90's. It was great then and it is better now. Highly recommended. « less
