I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I just needed to come to the city just for one night and I decided to choose the Residence Inn by the water. Great Views and a awesome restaurant across the street. The hotel staff was friendly, (not quick, but friendly). The hotel has a parking garage for large vehicles, as well as small. This really helps when trying to locate a stall that isn't tiny for your SUV. Yes, you have to pay for parking - it's worth it considering how hard it is to locate parking.
The hotel is set-up like an Embassy Suites - if you know what I mean. The rooms surround the middle of the hotel (the atrium). Large rooms, kitchen, balcony, - great hotel. I will definately stay here again! « less

We typically stay in Marriott properties if possible and this exceeded our expectations by leaps & bounds. The suite was really that - separate bedroom and very spacious dining/lounging area. Full kitchen which we didn't need, but appreciated the extras like the wine glasses, frig and other amenities. Location was perfect - can access bus and streetcar options north or to Downtown. Minutes to Westlake Center. Our first afternoon we took advantage of happy hour across the street at Chandler's and it was a difficult choice with so many drinking & eating possibilities. The front desk staff was efficient and Mary found me a flat pillow which I needed for my neck. Unusual request since most folks like big fluffy pillows. We did early check in since we arrived at the airport early from a Boston flight and they were very gracious. The breakfast with the hot options was a treat and we sat in the lobby and enjoyed the people watching. We stayed 3 nights over a weekend which saw a lot of business from boaters attending "opening day" on the lakes. Two thumbs up. « less

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in May of 2013. This was a very nice place with great access to the trolley system in Seattle. I simply walked one block or less to catch a ride across town, very easy to do. We had a very nice room, with two sleeping areas. I was sharing the room with a friend that had the bedroom, so the pullout couch/bed was mine, and while it was not padded enough for me, I still slept good. I called for an extra mattress cover and they brought one up, so the service was great for any issues. We even had a small balcony to enjoy the cool weather.
The breakfast was very good, I had something different every day, and they even had non-dairy milk for cereal if you need that. They also had a little complimentary snack/happy hour some evenings which was great too. I would definitely be happy to stay here again. « less

Booked the RI/Lake Union for a business-trip / weekend getaway with my wife. So the primary intent was a clean, functional, well-located Marriott. Got that and much more.
From the moment I checked in at the front desk, it was clear that friendly, helpful customer service was important to this management team. The front desk was polite, helpful, clear, and yet fun. This pattern continued with nearly every staff member we met.
The rooms were not the typical RI: A bit larger, better maintained (more like a full-service Marriott), and had a great view. I can't speak for the view on the back side of the hotel, but with the funky shape of this hotel (a long "V"), every room I could see had a balcony facing the marina, and a sight-line to watch the Sea Planes land and taxi (yes, the title is meant to be a pun, not a type). I spent each morning with a cup of coffee and my ipad on the balcony.
Unless you want to walk to downtown Seattle, the location is very convenient: 2 minutes from the freeway, yet no freeway noise; On the edge of downtown, but light traffic; Very nice restaurants across the street, but not overly crowded; and < 10 mins from either UW or Safeco field to watch some sports. After logging about 150 miles driving for the weekend, my worst "commute" was the 15 min drive when my GPS made me backtrack twice. Do note that there is a $25/day parking fee but it is well worth it, with in an out access to the underground garage.
I think I found my go-to place for the Seattle area! « less
