We (2 adults, 2 young kids) stayed in Villa Maldagora in early June 09. Weather was mostly very good, with a few days of thunder and cloud, and nice temperatures of around 26-27.
It's a nice quiet spot, with a fantastic (heated!) pool and beautiful grounds that are all impeccably well-kept (hats off to the groundsman!). It's a little out of Ciboure, so I think you would need a car. Walking to the town would probably be 15 minutes, probably 20 to St Jean de Luz, where you'd probably want to spend most of your time. The staff were always helpful. It's primarily self-catering, but you can order fresh bread/croissants delivered each morning. It's mostly families with young kids and older couples, almost all are French.
The only thing we didn't like was the size of the apartments, or more specifically, the bedrooms. We had an apartment that sleeps, allegedly, 6-7. The main bedroom was a double bed, and there was about 40cm clearance on either side. The bunk "cabine" had 40cm clearance on one side and was against the wall on the other 3 sides of the bed. So very, very tight. Our youngest, who slept in a cot, had to sleep in the kitchen/living area, as this was the only place large enough for the cot......and since she needs to go to bed quite early, it made evenings a little tricky. The rest of the apartment is fine, so this is a real pity. Villa Maldagora pitches itself as 5-star, and, mostly, I would not disagree. But the bedrooms make you feel like you in a sleeping car on a train. Maybe other apartment-types are better.
Two other small gripes: (1) you are quite near the motorway. In some apartments, there might be quite a bit of noise. But we really didn't hear any, and the pool area is very tranquil (2) the website mentions a kids playground......it has 1 small hut and two small rocking horses......it takes more than that to impress my 3 year-old! Neither of these bothered us, and wouldn't offset our view of the place.
Ciboure/St Jean de Luz is a beautiful area, with great little towns, scenery and beaches and . Overall, I would recommend Villa Maldagora, and would return. « less

I think the previous review has explained what goes on here. But to add to this. Yes, you do need a car as the property is on the outskirts of town. But that means it is a quiet location. The swimming pool can be used as it is heated. Trust me, I DON'T like cold pools! There is a cleaning kit which saves a fortune if you have got to buy everything at the Hypermarket. The staff are excellent and mostly speak english. We (family of 4 - two kids aged 5 + 9) have stayed at P&V places in the past and this is the best one yet. « less

We stayed in a ground floor apartment in this secure resort. Small double bedroom two bedsettees in the living room. Large living room with dining area and kitchenette. Dishwasher, fridge four plate hob and small oven. Welcome pack of small washing up liquid, 7 dishwasher tablets, cloths etc was ample for our stay. Sheets and towels were left for us to make up beds. Only five blankets! Bathroom with separate toilet, secluded patio with garden furniture overlooking the pool. Although it was October people were still using the pool and the sunbathing area around. Lots of parking places. We hired a car after finding it was 20 minutes walk to the nearest supermarket and 30 minutes into St Jean de Luz. Beware the narrow roads in Ciboure with chicanes.

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"I found your site very easy to use, and useful, and your staff helpful but not at all pushy. (I tried using another site that resulted in "sales" calls and won't use that site again. Conference planning is hectic/nutty enough without someone calling everyday to bug you! :-) Not only would I use you, but recommend you highly." L.F. - Berkeley, CA
"Thanks very much.. I have worked with your company for the last 5 or 6 months for all of our youth trips and have been very pleased. thanks for your hard work to ensure our safety and pleasant lodging accommodations" B.C. - Lake Charles, LA
